Demo Kiriopoulos (pictured right) is back at Playground Poker Club, searching for another deep run after making an appearance on the final table of the partypoker MILLIONS North America earlier this year.

He is currently in the WPT500 Day 1F flight, and has just caught a lucky turn to eliminate Benjamin Leblond from the field. Demo had opened the action to 2,000 from the cutoff, and was met with an all-in from Benjamin in the big blind. He made the call for around 15,000 total, and players opened their cards.

Demo: Ace of Clubs 9 of Spades
Benjamin: Ace of Diamonds Jack of Clubs

Board: King of Clubs King of Hearts Queen of Hearts 9 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds

With that pot, Demo climbed to average stack, sitting on a little over 50,000 in chips.

The second break of the night has just passed, marking the half-way mark for Day 1F players. Another 8 levels of play remain, with registration still open until the start of level 11.

Dean Murphy (pictured below) has claimed the top spot on the leaderboard heading into level 9, having climbed up above 200,000 in the last few minutes of level 8. He is closely followed by Tarik Rehou. Below are the top counts in play:

    Tarik Rehou

Tarik Rehou cold-called a 3-bet of 4,000 chips from the small blind before Jean-Philippe Piquette 4-bet all-in from the big blind. The original raisers removed themselves from the action, leaving just big-stacked Tarik in the hand.

He asked for a count, and the dealer cut out JPP’s stack before announcing that it was of 31,300. After a little hesitation, Tarik threw in some calling chips and hands were tabled.

JPP: Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs
Tarik: 8 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs

With no danger on the 4 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 4 of Spades 5 of Hearts 2 of Hearts board, Tarik eliminated a dangerous opponent from the field while increasing his holdings to almost 200,000 – good for the current chip lead. A short break is scheduled in a few minutes, during which we will update the leaderboard.

    Jahkheem Polydore

Jahkheem Polydore has recently sprung up the leaderboard after a few orbits of run good. In a recent hand we saw him eliminate Balakrish Patur from the field after they clashed pre-flop, forming a 30,000 pot.

Jahkeem tabled Ace of Clubs King of Clubs and needed to improve to overcome the 4 of Diamonds 4 of Clubs of his opponent. Balakrish was poised for a double-up until the river card counterfeit his pair, as the board read 8 of Spades 6 of Hearts 8 of Hearts Queen of Hearts 6 of Spades.

With these newly acquired chips, Jahkeem now nears 150,000 in chips, placing him atop the leaderboard through 6 levels of play.

The WPT500 Day 1E has progressed through all 16 levels and the remaining players are now bagging up their chips. According to the tournament clock there are 104 players who qualified for WPT500 Day 2. They will join the 241 players who have already qualified during the previous 3 online and 4 live Day 1s.

There are still two chances to qualify for Day 2. Any player can still enter Day 1F, which is on now – there are still two hours to late register – or you can try your luck in the Turbo Day 1G, tomorrow morning at 10:00am!

The chip leader at the end of Day 1E was Shaan Siddiqui with a count of 595,000. He is followed by Christine Do (521,000) chips, Stuart Taylor (486,000), and Mathieu Boucher (433,000). Shaan’s total of just shy of 600K is good enough to put him in 3rd position overall our of the 346 Day 2 qualifiers so far.
