When we arrived at table 32, Brian Altman was deep in thought, faced with a decision for his tournament life.

With the board reading 6 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 2 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts and a little shy of 20,000 already in the pot, Shailesh Patel slid a river bet forward which was enough to cover Brian, his heads-up opponent.

After a few moments of thought, Brian put together a theory that his Ace-high was the best hand, and made the call with his remaining 34,600 in chips. Shailesh tabled 7 of Spades 4 of Hearts for just 7-high, and Brian showed down his Ace of Spades 3 of Hearts to claim the pot, propelling him to over 85,000 in chips.

Some good sportsmanship occurred at table 21 during level 10.

From early position Daniel Andrei raised 2,300 preflop. Conrado Corpus called. After the dealer flipped Queen of Clubs 6 of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds, Daniel raised 3,200 and Conrado called without hesitation. When the turn was revealed, a King of Spades, Daniel checked, and Conrado immediately raised 5,500. Disgruntled, Daniel shook his head. He folded, turning over his ace and queen.

He gestured with his thumb, pointing it in Conrado’s direction while looking at me, “He’s bluffing!” Then he turned his talk towards Conrado: “Come on, he’s writing about the hand. Show us what you got!”

Conrado laughed as he turned over his cards: a pair of sixes – he had flopped the set!
