Today was the second Live Day 1 in the WPTDeepStacks $1500 + $150.

There were a total of 73 entries (including 7 re-entries), and at the end of the day 22 players were left standing. The chip leader to close Day 1B was the same man who held the chip lead most of the day, Trevor Argue. He ended up with over 300,000 chips sitting in front of him after almost nine hours of play, which almost doubles the stack of his closest competitor.  A list of the top six players is included below.

Reminder: for those that wish to join the action but haven’t yet had a chance to come down: there will be two more live Day 1 flights tomorrow, November 2nd at noon and 6pm. In addition, there will be a Turbo WPTDeepStacks Day 1 flight Saturday morning.

All the players who make it through the twelve 40-minute levels will earn themselves a berth in the WPTDeepStacks Day 2, beginning at 3pm on Saturday November 3, 2018. We have now entered level 12, the final level of the evening. We had a total of 73 entries for this evening’s flight, and at this point we only have 26 players left, split almost evenly around three tables.

That is, we HAD 26 players – now we have 25.

As this post was being written, the infamous table 72 claimed another victim, undoubtedly the shortest stack of the remaining players. Christine Do found herself unable to move to Day 2 with less than 5 big blinds and so decided to shove at this late stage of the game. Her opponent was Noy U.

The board came down , and Christine was ousted by Noy’s Aces.

However, all is not lost! There is a good chance she will come back again tomorrow for one of the two Day 1 flights being played (at noon and 6pm) so that she can have a chance to start Day 2 with the rest of the Day 1 survivors.

Table 72 has most of the chip leaders sitting at it. Yet as we have observed over the last couple of hours, the repartee is among some of the friendliest.

There, the smaller stacks face both a danger and an opportunity, and the first hand of level 11 was between one of those chip leaders, Trevor Argue, and a smaller-stacked player Cole Neufeld.

Gabriel Attiave, perhaps the shortest stack at the table, limped in for 1,000 and was raised to 3,000 by the player to his left, Cole Neufeld. Trevor called, as did Gabriel.

Flop:

Trevor checked utg, followed by Gabriel. Cole made it 4,600 to go. Trevor called, but Gabriel bowed out. It was now heads up, and the turn was dealt a .

Both Trevor and Cole checked, and they saw the river, a . With three clubs on the board, Trevor wasn’t prepared to do anything other than check, and when Cole raised 11,000 it looked like the hand might be over. However, Trevor was curious, and called the bet.

Cole flipped over his , making the pair of Queens. It was good enough, and Trevor chuckled to himself. “I had a feeling you had the Queen,” he was heard to remark. No matter, it was only a tiny portion of his stack, and now the friendly chat can continue for a few more hands.

Level 10 had only just gotten underway when we saw an all in situation develop on table 82. Jessie Wheatley, who was only 4 players behind the chip leader, found herself calling an all in from short-stacked player Charles Dube.

The battle was essentially a coin-flip, one that Dube would end up losing. He was all in for just a shade under 30,000, and Jessie’s hockey sticks scored the winner on him.

With the win, Jessie finds herself a lot closer to today’s chip lead, and in good position to come back on Day 2, slated to begin at 3pm on Saturday November 3rd.

The WPT DeepStacks Day 1B has 12 40-minute levels, and after 9 levels Trevor Argue remains on top with 153,600 chips. As luck would have it, the top three players are all now seated at the same table along with him, which may result in some fireworks!

As we approached table 82 there was already quite a stack of chips in the middle and some cards on the felt. Showing was a , with two players remaining in the hand.

After an utg check from Ryan McKnight, Andrew Boujaoude made it 3,200 to go, which Ryan called. Down came a . Again, McKnight checked, only to confront an all in by Boujaoude for 21,700. Considering that the average chip stack is over 60,000, it seemed as good a time as any to shove.

Unfortunately or Boujaoude, he ran into an absolute monster hand that took him out of the tournament. McKnight called with a , crushing Boujaoude’s . Sometimes there is simply no fighting your fate. When a King-high straight flush comes rolling along, you’re bound to get rolled on. That’s poker.
