At this point of the evening we have seen a total of 249 entries into the WPTDeepStacks Day 1D, only 135 of which remain seated. As we were scanning the room just now we heard the infamous phrase “all in!” as we passed table 105, so we zeroed in on the action.

Although the preflop betting had already gotten underway among a few players, the 25,000 chip shove by Ramesh Puradchithasan – followed by an even bigger shove by Matthew Sherman – pushed out everyone else.

Matthew: Ace of Clubs Jack of Hearts

Ramesh: 7 of Diamonds 7 of Spades

Although the odds slightly favored the pair of 7s, it wasn’t Ramesh’s day. The board came down 8 of Hearts Ace of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs, and Matthew scooped the chips. Now we’re down to 134, with three and a half levels to go!

The players in tonight’s $1500 + $150 WPTDeepStacks Day 1D have just returned from their second break of the evening. Only six more rounds to go for tonight’s flight!

Keep in mind, anyone wishing to enter can do so for the next 2 hours, until just after 12:30am. If you miss it, there will be a Turbo Flight for Day 1E tomorrow morning at 10am, and then Day 2 will begin at 3pm. Good luck!

The last hand saw a large amount of preflop action split amongst five players. Eventually it led to two all ins and a player busting from the tournament.

Bao Phu opened with a raise of 2,700, which was called by the players to his left, Richard Book and Ian Modder. To Modder’s left was Greg Mccann, who raised again, this time to 5,000. The 5,000 was called by yet another player, Kyle Janisse in seat 9.

All this action was a warning to our original raiser, Bao Phu in seat 3, who folded. However, 5,000 was just fine for Richard Book, to Boa’s left, who had been content to call so far all night. Not to be outdone, Ian Modder re-raised the re-raise, shoving all in for his remaining stack of 27,100.

This was finally too much for Greg Mccann, who realized he might have bitten off more than he could chew on this hand and folded. Kyle Janisse, realizing that Richard was still in the hand, also shoved all in, but for much more, for 66,000. His shove was effective, asRichard let it go. Now it was heads up between Kyle and Ian.

Kyle: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Spades

Ian: 10 of Hearts Jack of Hearts

The board was dealt 9 of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 10 of Spades 2 of Spades King of Diamonds, and Ian’s Jack-Ten suited was cracked by Kyle’s Aces.

Timid table 98 limps up a storm

Some tables have more action than others. As we were passing by table 98 we witnessed a masterclass in the fine art of checking. With five players limping in to see the flop, not only did the check the turn as a table, they also checked the river together.

Board: 9 of Diamonds 8 of Spades 4 of Diamonds 7 of Clubs 9 of Clubs

Somewhat appropriately, the winning hand was the rarely-played 4 of Clubs 3 of Hearts. The winner of this hand was Victor Ramdin, seen here being congratulated by his neighbor on his victory.
