Simon Belzile’s night has come to a close, and he finishes the WPTDeepStacks tournament in 15th place, collecting a healthy $11,750. And for the 4th or 5th time in a row, it was a set that helped eliminate a player.

This time Simon’s opponent was Alexander Allison. The flop came down K-7-3, and when it did, we imagine both players were overjoyed. That was the problem for Simon, however, as both he and Alexander flop a set. The main issue at hand? Alexander flopped a set of Kings, as opposed to Simon’s set of 3’s.

Congratulations to Simon for an excellent tournament, and good luck to all the remaining players.

Once again it was a set that busted a player from the tournament. This time it was Daniel Dubeau doing the ousting with a set of 5’s versus Kyle Janisse\s pair of Jacks.

The hand began with a K-J-5 flop, and Kyle (we found out later) was holding a J-9. The table checked around, and the turn was a 2.

Daniel checked, slow-playing his 5’s, and Kyle bet 100,000. Daniel, in turn, shoved and Kyle made the call. Kyle will collect $11,750 for his 15th place finish. Congratulations on a tournament well-played.

Billard busts, down to two tables

Francois Billard’s night is done, and he finishes in 17th. He will collect a prize of $9,700.

According to one of the players at the table, he went all in with pocket 10s preflop. His opponent, however, had pocket jacks, and that was all she wrote for Francois.

Congratulations go to him on an excellent tournament and an excellent finish. Good luck to our players on the final two tables!

    Givotovsky out in 18th

Alek Givotovsky is out in 18th place, collecting a handsome prize of $9,700 for his finish. Unfortunately for him, he made the mistake of tangling with Muhammad Abdel-Rahim, the big stack at his table.

Muhammad ended Alek’s night with another set, this time a set of 6’s. The flop came down J-6-4. Alex was holding a Q-J, making top pair. But it couldn’t beat Muhammad’s pocket sixes, the mark of the beast.

And Muhammad is a beast indeed, as he has been responsible for busting a few of his Day 3 competitors so far today. The action continues….

Jean Francois Bouchard’s night is over, and he finishes in 19th place.

The hand that took him out saw him chasing a flush (holding a 3 of Hearts 4 of Hearts) versus Muhammad Abdel-Rahim’s pocket 9’s. The flop came down 8-9-J with two hearts, which gave Muhammad a set of 9’s, but with two hearts on the board. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough, and Jean Francois’ last play was a shove on the turn. He will collect $9,700 for his efforts.

Balakrish Patur claimed another victim as we find ourselves midway through level 25, our third 60-minute level of the day. Mark A. raised all in preflop for 675,000, and after not too long a time, Balakrish called.

Balakrish: Ace of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds

Mark A.: 9 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds

It appears that Mark was caught on a bluff, and Balakrish capitalized. The board came down 5 of Diamonds Jack of Hearts 2 of Spades 10 of Clubs 3 of Spades, and Mark’s night was over, but he will collect $9,700 for his efforts over the last few days.
