There was yet another snowstorm in the Montreal area in the early morning hours today, dumping more than 7 cm (3 in) of snow, but the bad weather seems not to have prevented the players who have qualified for Day 2 from arriving on time. Nevertheless we have delayed the start of the day’s action for 15 minutes, so the tournament is set to resume in approximately a half hour.
There are 311 players starting Day 2 action today spread out among 35 tables, and among the players starting today are many notable figures both internationally and locally. We’ll be following up this morning with short profiles of some of the more notable players still in the event.
