The final number for Event 1 is in!

The registration period has just closed on this last of four Day 1s of Event 1 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic, and here are the final turn outs:

  • Day 1a: 329 entries,
  • Day 1b: 426 entries,
  • Day 1c: 396 entries,
  • Day 1d: 341 entries.

This gives us a total of 1492 entries for this opening Event, which almost doubles the guaranteed prizepool!

Good luck to everyone still in the running!

End of level 10 and the chips are flying!

  • We are nearing the end of level 10 and there has been a slew of recent eliminations, resulting in some big movements between the stacks. There are now 149 players left in the field, with a little more than an hour and a half left of play for the day.

Final chips counts and seating arrangements will be made available shortly after the completion of this final Day 1, and play will resume tomorrow, Sunday March 23rd, at 1:00pm. Unless otherwise specified by our Tournament Director, Day 2 will play out for 16 levels, the first 5 of which are 30 minutes long, followed by 40 minute levels. Day 3 is scheduled for Monday March 24th at 7:30pm.

Just as a reminder to anyone who will be driving to Playground Poker Club from Montreal tomorrow, the Mercier bridge will be closed in the Kahnawake direction. A good alternative route is to take Champlain bridge.

    And finally… Day 1d!

Although the $135 + $15 No Limit Hold’em Re-entry format is the usual – and very popular – way that we kick off major tournament series’ at Playground, this is the first time we have run the event with four Day 1s.

So far the event has been a hit – and we surpassed the guarantee last night – so the extra Day 1 being played tonight will do two things: a) give players an additional chance to qualify for Day 2, and b) pump up the prize pool so we’ll be able to pay out more money to more players when the whole affair comes to a conclusion on Monday night.

As the tournament is about to start there are already 272 registrants with a published cap of 350 and late registration open until about 10:10pm tonight.

    Good luck to all!
