  • Pierre Guenette moved all-in for his remaining 1.46M from the cut-off, and was called by Jason Comtois in the big blind.

Pierre: Ace of Clubs 8 of Hearts

Jason: Ace of Spades Jack of Hearts

The board of 9 of Clubs 5 of Clubs 9 of Spades 10 of Diamonds Queen of Clubs was the last one of Day 3, as it eliminated Pierre in 7th place, giving us our official final table of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship 2014.

Congratulations to our 6 finalists, and good luck tomorrow! The final table is scheduled at 12pm, and you will be able follow the live stream (the link will be available tomorrow).

  • We just lost 2-time final tableist of the Montreal WPT Sylvain Siebert, as he just got into a betting war with Alexender Wong preflop. Alexender opened the pot from the cut-off to 240K, and was faced with a 3bet to 660K from Sylvain. He then 4bet to 1.2M, to which Sylvain responded with a shove of just over 2.7M. Alexender made the call, and seemed a little surprised to see what Sylvain went all-in with.

Alexender: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Sylvain: King of Spades 7 of Spades

The board was interesting for both of them, but mainly for Alexender, who flopped a full house on the 7 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts Jack of Clubs flop. The turn gave Sylvain a little more life, bringing the King of Clubs, but the river 6 of Diamonds sealed the win for Alexender, who is now hovering around the 8 million chip mark now.

We are now just one elimination of our official final table of 6.

    8th place: Sylvain Siebert, $23,863

    9th place: Brent Wheeler

  • Level: 31

  • Big Blind: 120K

  • Chip Average: 4.0M
  • Remaining: 8

  • Johnny Mazzaferro opened from UTG+1 to 260K, and saw his bet get raised to 1M by Mario Lim. Brent Wheeler then moved all-in from the big blind for just under 1.1M, followed by a fold from Johnny and a call by Mario.

Mario: Jack of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Brent: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds

The board ran in favour of Mario, showing Queen of Diamonds 5 of Spades 6 of Clubs 8 of Spades 10 of Diamonds, and Brent was eliminated in 9th for $17,792.

    9th place: Brent Wheeler, $17,792

    10th place: Marco Caza

  • Level: 31
  • Small Blind: 60K
  • Big Blind: 120K
  • Ante: 20K
  • Chip Average: 3.6M
  • Remaining: 9
  • Entries: 1079

  • Marco Caza has been eliminated in 10th place after a long spell of very careful play on the final table of 10 players.

Jason Comtois opened the action with a raise preflop to 280K. Daniel Gagne re-raised to 530K and then Marco 4-bet shoved his under-average (but not short) stack. Jason folded and Daniel called.

Marco: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts
Daniel: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs

Marco was dominated and the board offered no help: Jack of Hearts 9 of Clubs 4 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs.

    10th place: Marco Caza, $13,292.00

Final Table of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship Main Event

    11th place: Rodney Lawrence

  • Level: 30
  • Small Blind: 50K
  • Big Blind: 100K
  • Ante: 15K
  • Chip Average: 3.2M
  • Remaining: 10
  • Entries: 1079

  • Rodney Lawrence has been eliminated in 11th place, meaning that the final table of 10 players has come together. Play will continue tonight until there are 6 players remaining – the official Final Table in WPT events.

Pierre Guenette is the player who eliminated Rodney although many had tried earlier today as Rodney spent most of the day playing with a very short stack. We missed the preflop action but on the flop of 8 of Clubs 6 of Clubs 2 of Spades Rodney bet just over 200K and Pierre flat called. The turn came the Queen of Diamonds and Rodney again led out – for 375K this time. Pierre immediately announced he was all-in and Rodney called very quickly.

Rodney: King of Spades Queen of Clubs
Pierre: 6 of Hearts 6 of Spades

The 7 of Diamonds changed nothing and Pierre’s middle set was good. He covered Rodney, who was eliminated from the event.

    Johnny Mazzaferro doubles up

  • Level: 30
  • Small Blind: 50K
  • Big Blind: 100K
  • Ante: 15K
  • Chip Average: 2.9M
  • Remaining: 11
  • Entries: 1079

  • Sitting in middle position, we just saw Johnny Mazzaferro place his remaining 1.365M chips all-in, and go heads-up with Daniel Gagne from the big blind.

Johnny turned over 6 of Spades 6 of Clubs, and needed some help to win against the Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs of Daniel. The flop was dangerous, but still very good for the sixes, as it showed 6 of Hearts 10 of Hearts 7 of Hearts, and with blanks on the turn and river (3 of Spades and 9 of Clubs), Johnny doubled up to over 2.7M.

We are still just one elimination away from our final table of 10.

    12th place: Ami Alibay

  • Level: 29
  • Small Blind: 40K
  • Big Blind: 80K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.9M
  • Remaining: 11
  • Entries: 1079

  • Following a hand where Ami saw just over 1 million of his chips go towards John Paul Tabago (where the 3 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs of Ami lost to the Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades on a Ace of Spades 6 of Spades 4 of Clubs Queen of Spades 5 of Spades board), Ami found himself all-in with his remaining chips versus Alexender Wong.

Ami: Ace of Hearts 7 of Hearts

Alexender: 4 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds

The board was good to Alexender, showing the 8 of Clubs 10 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds 4 of Clubs Jack of Spades, and Ami busted in 12th place.

    12th place: Ami Alibay, $13,292

    Ami Alibay

    13th place: Matthew Brunskole

  • Level: 29
  • Small Blind: 40K
  • Big Blind: 80K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.7M
  • Remaining: 12
  • Entries: 1079

  • Holding a stack of 740K, which is less than 10BB, Matthew Brunskole took advantage of an unopened pot as he shoved from the button. Unfortunately for him, Marco Caza had a hand to call from the big blind.

Matthew: 10 of Spades 8 of Diamonds

Marco: King of Hearts Jack of Spades

The board ran out Queen of Spades Ace of Spades 8 of Spades Jack of Clubs 6 of Spades, and Matthew’s ten-high flush was second best to Marco’s jack-high flush, thus eliminating him in 13th place.

    13th place: Matthew Brunskole, $10,675
