  • Registration has closed on Day 1c of the $1000 + $100 WPT Canadian Spring Championship and the final tally of entrants today is 552! Added to the 219 entries from Day 1a and the 308 entries from yesterday’s Day 1b, the total number of entries in all three starting flights has climbed to 1079.

Tournament staff are working on finalizing the prize pool and payouts, and rest assured that we’ll be publishing that information as soon as it is available.

    Quite a few front-runners

  • Day 1c has progressed mid-way through level 6 but even at this early stage there are some front-runners who have leapt to the head of the pack building up stacks of over 100K while the chip average is still under 37K.

    • Mike Sexton
    • Benjamin Beaulac
    • Anthony Carbury
    • Marcello Rosa
    • Yanick Colpron
    • Pierre Guenette

    Some more randomness…

  • Though this time the result isn’t in the least bit romantic! When talented local regular Alan Yifan Dong was busted by Mike Sexton early in the tournament, who should take his empty seat to Mike’s left but Antonio Esfandiari!

    15 minutes to go

Day 1c of the $1000 + $100 WPT Canadian Spring Championship is set to begin in just 15 minutes! It looks like people have gotten the message about the value in this fantastic event – there are already 394 seats sold for today’s starting flight with late registration open for another 5 hours after the event gets underway.

Good luck to all of the players today!

WPT CSC Day 1b final chip counts

There were 308 entries in Day 1b of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship. At the end of 13 levels of play, just 90 players remained in the event and have qualified to return for Day 2 on Sunday March 30th. Just one player managed to qualify from both Day 1a and Day 1b (Kevin MacDonald); the smaller of his two stacks will be removed from the tournament.

The total number of entries across both Day 1s held so far is 527 and of that number, 151 players are slated to return for Day 2.

Day 1c begins tomorrow (Saturday March 29) at 11am.

  • We have now entered the last level of play here in Day 1b of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship Main Event, which means that in 45 minutes, the remaining players will bag their chips for Day 2.

Tomorrow will be the last chance to play in this $1,000,000 guaranteed event, and for the moment it looks like there might be some overlay. Day 1c is scheduled for 11:00am tomorrow, so make sure you don’t miss your chance to win a share of that huge prizepool!

As a reminder for those who have survived one of the Day 1s, Day 2 will be played out on Sunday (march 30th) at 12:00pm.

A lot of love on table 60

Sometimes the randomness of tournaments can bring some interesting situations. Laurence Grondin’s last table change sent her to table 60 seat 3, which happens to be the seat right next to her boyfriend, poker pro Marc-Etienne McLaughlin! Let’s hope they don’t end up going all-in one against the other, or one of them might end up sleeping on the couch tonight!
