After just 4 hands of deal-one-hand-and-stop play, the bubble has burst in the Playground 500 and the top 71 players left are all in the money.
There were two called all-in hands at the same time and each dealer paused after the call was made, and after the other tables finished their hands uneventfully, the two hands were played out. On Table 68 the short-stacked player managed to double, but on Table 70, the showdown between Sean Edelenbos and the short-stacked Yannick Boudreau ended up with Yannick on the rail in 72nd. Sean had improved to a Broadway straight with the on the river, beating Yannick’s flopped two pairs.
Play continues in level 18 and there’s certain to be a flurry of eliminations as short-stacked players do a little profit-taking.

The TD has just announced that play will continue Hand-for-hand as there are just 72 players remaining in the tournament. Judging by the friendly “buzz” in the room, one might expect a short bubble – but it’s almost impossible to predict.

Louis Boutin was getting short as the bubble approaches and chose to shove from middle position, only to find an instant over-shove from Jean-François Marin to his left. The blinds were left to act but both players folded, and the cards were exposed:

The flop was a thing of beauty for pocket 7s – and the didn’t even provoke a small sweat. It’s still tense times for both players now because there are just 77 players remaining – the bubble is in view!
