After 10 levels of play, Day 2 of the $500 + $50 Deepstack has come to an end. From 57 to start the day, only 7 players remain, and they will return for the conclusion of the event tomorrow night at 7pm.

Leading the field is George Caragiorgas, who spent the day steadily increasing his stack leading him to the final table. Once he arrived here, he combined good plays with good spots and took control of the massive chip lead. He returns tomorrow with nearly 2-million in chips, which is 800K more than second in chips Shaan Siddiqui. Below are the chip counts of the final 7 players entering Day 3.

See you tomorrow!

David Bonneau went on a huge roller-coaster ride in this last level of the night, as he went from 500K down to 85K before staging a comeback up to over 800K. He then lost 140K calling a 3bet from George Caragiorgas where he ended up folding on the flop – they exchanged info after the hand by tabling their hands, and George had the best hand with AK over AQ.

On the last hand of the night, the two got involved in yet another huge pot – with the same hands! George opened to 85K from middle position following a limp, and David 3bet to 200K from the button. George announced all-in, and David made the call with a total stack worth 540K.

George: Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs
David: Ace of Hearts Queen of Spades

Board: 9 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs 4 of Hearts 10 of Clubs 4 of Spades

With that pot, George climbed to 1.95 million, good for the massive chip lead entering Day 3.

Players are now bagging their chips, and in a few moments we will publish the full list of player-reported chip counts.

David Bonneau was nearly out of the tournament a few minutes ago, when he bet more than half his remaining stack before folding to a check-shove from table-opponent George Caragiorgas. With only 85K left after the hand, he quickly ran it up to 300K before picking up pocket aces to stack Co Tran in 10th place.

Fast forward a few short hands, and he is faced with a 245K open-shove from Mike Lafable, only to look down at another pocket pair of Ace of Hearts Ace of Diamonds. Mike turned over 10 of Spades Jack of Spades, and as his hand failed to improve on the 10 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds 7 of Spades 4 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds, he was sent to the rail in 9th place.

David Bonneau now holds a cool 800K stack, nearly 10x what he held less than 2 orbits ago.

The tournament director has just called the last 4 hands of play, and once they have been completed, the remaining players will bag their chips onto tomorrow’s Day 3.

Co Tran folded every hand that was dealt to him on this final table, and saw his stack of 325K drop down to just 125K before he finally picked up a hand worth shoving with. Unfortunately for him, his 10 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts ran into the Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades of David Bonneau, and with no help on the 6 of Hearts 9 of Clubs King of Spades King of Diamonds Queen of Hearts board, he was eliminated in 10th place.

George Caragiorgas just took a hefty chunk out of David Bonneau, as he check-shoved on a King of Spades King of Clubs Queen of Hearts 6 of Spades turn after David bet out more than half of his stack. David made the quick fold, leaving himself with under 100K behind. He stole the blinds the very next hand, and then managed to double up through Alex Sauriol a few hands later with Ace of Spades Queen of Clubs over 10 of Hearts 10 of Clubs to bring him back into the game.

After winning the pot, George climbed up over 1,200,000 in chips, putting him in the driver seat of this final table.

The $500 + $50 Deepstack has just entered level 24, and this will be the last level of play for Day 2. There are still 10 players on this final table, and although there haven’t been any eliminations in the last level, there were some shifts amongst the chip stacks.

George Caragiorgas now leads the field with around 850K, while Shaan Siddiqui has dropped to around 500K. Peter Johnson Jr. has crept up to almost 800K, putting him second in chips. Co Tran is still the short stack of the table but now only holds around 150K, while the others fall between 300K and 600K.

Final Table

After almost a full level without an elimination, we lost two players in almost back-to-back hands to bring us to the final table of the $500 + $50 Deepstack event.

Alex Fiorani was the 12th place finisher, and he was followed by Rodney Lawrence, who ran his 99 into the AA of Shaan Saddiqui. Both players collected $1,810 for their finish.

Day 2 will continue until the end of level 24, after which the players will bag and tag their chips onto tomorrow’s Day 3 conclusion. There is a short break in a few minutes, during which we will publish the full counts of the remaining players.

Congratulations to our final tableists!

Lafable and Caragiorgas neck and neck

Since the last break only 15 minutes ago, the two chip leaders Mike Lafable and George Caragiorgas have each stacked a player, and now sit neck and neck in first place with 800K apiece. The two casualties were Daniel Andelman and Mark Choy, who both collected $1,490 for their deep run.

Only 12 players remain, meaning we are 2 eliminations away from the elusive final table.
