Michailidis is the first to go

Said Michailidis came into Day 3 as the shortest stack, holding only around 7bb. He patiently waited for a good spot to move in, however it never seem to come. After an orbit an a half, he was left with merely 125,000 in chips before he finally found something worthy of an all-in. Sitting in the small blind, he was faced with an open from Mathieu Boulanger-Vaugeois in middle position, and a cold call from Daniel Leddy when he moved in for less than Mathieu’s open.

They were three-way to the 4 of Hearts 8 of Clubs 3 of Hearts flop, where Mathieu c-bet a 100K bet which Daniel called. The turn (10 of Spades) and river (6 of Hearts) went check-check, and showdown was reached. Mathieu tabled 9 of Spades 9 of Diamonds, while Daniel flashed a second best AQ. Said showed 7 of Spades 7 of Diamonds, and saw his last chips get shipped over to Mathieu.

10th place: Said Michailidis – $1,250.00

After 4 starting flights which saw 685 entries, and one action packed Day 2 which brought the field down to the final table of 10, the All-Stars for Starlight is now ready for its epic conclusion: Day 3!

Prosper Azoulay returns as the chip leader tonight, and his almost 3.5 million chip stack dwarfs the rest of the field. He holds more than double any one of his opponents to start the night, however his night will be far from easy as the competition is fierce. Action restarts with just over 30 minutes left in level 28.

Stay tuned for live updates throughout the conclusion of this final table via our own Playground Poker Blog.

Good luck to the final tableist!

The All-Stars for Starlight event has reached its final table of 10 players, and they have bagged and tagged their chips onto Day 3, which will take place tomorrow night at 7pm.

Leading the field is Prosper Azoulay, who stepped on the gas in the recent few orbits and built himself a monster 3,495,000 stack in the process. Former overwhelming chip-leader John Palmer went in the opposite direction, as his once 2.5 million chip stack was reduced to just 595,000 by the time Day 2 was over.

Below is a look at the seating assignment for tomorrow’s conclusion of the event, as well as the player-reported chip counts. Action starts at 7pm sharp, and you can follow live updates and photos via our Playground Poker Club Blog.

See you tomorrow!

The All-Stars for Starlight field is down to 18 players, meaning we now have our two final tables. John Palmer has been steadily increasing his stack, and now has a stranglehold lead on the rest of the players as he nears 2.5 million in chips – roughly 3 times the average stack. Said Michailidis only has half of Palmer’s chips, however his 1.3 million occupies the second spot on the leaderboard. Other players above the 1-million chip mark include Jonathan Bussieres and Prosper Azoulay, while Eric Ranger and Mathieu Leclerc are not far behind.

All-Stars for Starlight – prize payouts

2016/06/18 - 17:45 by

There were a total of 685 entries across 4 starting flights in the All-Stars for Starlight Event, and as the $100K guarantee was not reached, the total net prize pool was $97,000 (3% of the gross prize pool was withheld as staff gratuities).

Note that although 63 places were slated to be paid, the players in position 63 and 64 went out on the same hand during hand-for-hand action and they split the final payout amount and the total number of places paid is now 64.

Note when play was heads up, the two players decided to make a small deal, locking in $15,807 each while still leaving an extra $2,000 for the tournament champion.

Palmer leads final 27

Play has just entered level 24 in Day 2 of the All-Stars for Starlight event, and the field has been reduced to just 3 final tables. While the players were on a short break moments ago, we took the time to bring an update on the leaderboard.

Only one player is over the 7-figure mark at this break, as John Palmer sits with 1,156,000 in front of him. Below is a look at the current leaderboard after 23 levels of play. The plan for today is to either play down until the final 9 players, or until the end of level 26, whichever comes first. The remaining players will return tomorrow for the conclusion of the event.

Play continued down to 64 players remaining in a very orderly fashion… and then the tournament moved to hand for hand play. After 6 hands, finally there was an all-in and a call on Table 62 – and another all-in and call on table 64. All of the players concerned tabled their hands and waited for the rest of the action to close on the remaining tables. There was a bit of a sweat as a relatively short-stacked player on table 66 faced a big decision as well – but he finally folded and the action proceeded.

Table 62

Qiang “Ocean” Dong: King of Clubs Queen of Hearts (at risk; 40K remaining)
Normand Loyer: 9 of Hearts 9 of Clubs (called)

The board ran out 4 of Spades Ace of Diamonds 2 of Spades Ace of Spades 4 of Diamonds and Normand’s two-pair was good and Ocean was eliminated.

Table 64

Blind on blind.
Eric Benhamron: Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades (at risk; 112K remaining)
Jonathan Bussières: Ace of Diamonds King of Spades

The board ran out Jack of Spades Ace of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 4 of Spades 10 of Spades and Jonathan’s kicker sent Eric to the rail.

Eric and Ocean split the 63rd place prize of $325, earning $162.50 each.

When play resumed there were just a few minutes left in the level (and before the next break) but this was enough for 3 additional players to bust.
