Bastien loses AA < AK

Marckenly Bastien came into Day 3 looking to play, and he did just that as he was by far the most active player in the first level of play of this final table. He took a few pots from his opponents with uncontested opens, and even some 3bet shoves, and given his aggressive style to start the night it is no surprise players started looking to play back at him.

In his final hand of play, he opened to 155K from middle position, and was faced with a huge 3bet all-in from Mathieu Leclerc in the small blind. He couldn’t anounce “call” quickly enough while tabling his monster pair of Ace of Clubs Ace of Spades, and was a massive favourite versus the Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts of his opponent. The flop was clean, bringing 3 of Clubs 10 of Spades 6 of Spades, however Mathieu made a runner-runner straight as the dealer rung out the Queen of Diamonds and Jack of Hearts.

Marckenly looked devastated, as any player would losing like this so far in a multi-day event, however he congratulated his opponents and took a walk over to collect his 9th place prize. Mathieu added over a million chips to his stack, putting him amongst the chip leaders.

9th place: Marckenly Bastien – $1,500.00

Michailidis is the first to go

Said Michailidis came into Day 3 as the shortest stack, holding only around 7bb. He patiently waited for a good spot to move in, however it never seem to come. After an orbit an a half, he was left with merely 125,000 in chips before he finally found something worthy of an all-in. Sitting in the small blind, he was faced with an open from Mathieu Boulanger-Vaugeois in middle position, and a cold call from Daniel Leddy when he moved in for less than Mathieu’s open.

They were three-way to the 4 of Hearts 8 of Clubs 3 of Hearts flop, where Mathieu c-bet a 100K bet which Daniel called. The turn (10 of Spades) and river (6 of Hearts) went check-check, and showdown was reached. Mathieu tabled 9 of Spades 9 of Diamonds, while Daniel flashed a second best AQ. Said showed 7 of Spades 7 of Diamonds, and saw his last chips get shipped over to Mathieu.

10th place: Said Michailidis – $1,250.00

Prosper Azoulay returns as the chip leader tonight, and his almost 3.5 million chip stack dwarfs the rest of the field. He holds more than double any one of his opponents to start the night, however his night will be far from easy as the competition is fierce. Action restarts with just over 30 minutes left in level 28.

Stay tuned for live updates throughout the conclusion of this final table via our own Playground Poker Blog.
