From the 93 total entries that took place in the World Cup of Cards Warm Up, only 23 were left to bag chips at the close of Day 1. They return to the felts tomorrow afternoon to continue their quest towards the lion-share of the prize pool, but only one will be able to claim the top prize of $30,500. The final 12 will lock in a payout, although with the re-entry format a few players are looking for a final table score to regain some of their lost shells.

Leading the way is Patrick St-Onge, who bagged a healthy 257,000 stack. Full player-reported chip counts are found in the table below, as well as the seating assignments for Day 2. Follow us here at the Playground Poker Blog for live updates and photographs.

Sammy Chao and Marc Guerbilsky just played a hand that both will surely remember for a long time to come.

We missed the exact action, but from what we gathered Marc opened his button, and Sammy defended his big blind. Betting remained fairly passive from the part of both players until the river, where the two players were more than happy to wager all of their available chips.

With the board showing and an all-in card in front of the two players, Sammy tabled a flopped full house with and was shocked to find out his hand was second-best, as Marc made a runner-runner straight flush with . Once the count was done, Marc’s 60K stack had his opponent just barely covered, and a flabbergasted Sammy slowly walked away from the table, wondering what just happened…

The WCC Warm Up is well into the last level of play, and in roughly 30 minutes the surviving players will bag their chips onto Day 2. Interestingly, the top 4 stacks are lined up one next to the other on table 33 and are neck-to-neck here in level 14. Carter Swidler has the slight edge with 175K, while Manfred Gunther holds a second-best 172K, Patrick St-Onge is in 3rd with 168K and Jason Conforti sits in 4th with 162K.

Once the bagging process has been completed, we will publish the full list of player-reported chip counts for Day 2, as well as the new seating assignments.

The WCC Warm Up players are on a short break following level 12, and will play through two more levels before bagging their chips onto tomorrow’s conclusion.
