With over 100 players at the tables after just 1 level of play, it looks like tonight’s flight will be another great one. With $100,000 guaranteed, the Habs game on the big screen – yes, we’re still watching at this point of the season! – and our cocktail waitresses bringing players their favorite beverages, how could one go wrong?

Level 2 is now underway, and anyone can jump in or re-enter until 10:15pm, end of level 6. Here is an early gallery of the field:

On tap tonight: Day 1B of the Playground 200

    2018/03/23 - 18:52 by Jôle Simard

The Playground 200 is back on tonight with Day 1B, the second of three live Day 1s. Yesterday’s flight was a resounding success, having accounted for 170 entries, including 31 re-entries. When all the dust was settled, after 14 levels of play, 33 players were bagging chips, led by Jerry Joseph (Triple J) Jaber, the only player with more than 300K on the qualifiers’ list.

Another 14 levels will be played tonight, and we expect even more entries, meaning more players to send to Day 2. With Day 1C starting tomorrow morning at 11:00am, this is the last of the night flights. A minimum of $100,000 dollars will be in the prize pool, and to get to it, your first step is to earn your Day 2 seat, tonight or tomorrow.

The Playground 200 format is as good as it gets for a $20 tournament: 30-minute levels, 25K starting stack, unlimited re-entries during the first 6 levels. Cards are in the air in 10 minutes, come join the party!

    33 bags

    2018/03/23 - 3:08 by Jôle Simard

After 14 levels of play, Day 1A’s 170 entries funneled to just 33 players. 33 stacks are sent to Sunday’s Day 2, and will soon join the 15 online qualifiers that have been waiting for the party since March 18th. The list of combined qualifiers can be found here, in the results section.

Jerry Joseph Jaber finished in the lead, with 316,000 chips, having won a huge pot about an orbit before the end. Anderson Frank-Graham follows, with 293,000 chips. After his huge score with Ace of Clubs King of Clubs, he kept heading in that direction and added another stack of reds to his riches.

Join these players on the Day 2 qualifiers’ list by playing Day 1B (Friday 7:00pm) and/or Day 1C (Saturday 11:00am).

The Power Weekend resumes tomorrow at noon with the $90 + $10 NL Hold’em Deepstack Turbo, and we will be there to bring you the updates!

When we got to the table, Antoine Sankari was all-in and the flop was out, 3 players in the action. No side pot was formed, meaning Sankari must have 3-bet shoved pre-flop.

Joël Giguère checked the flop, and so did Jerry Joseph Jaber. On the turn, Giguère checked again, but Jaber bet out 25K, initiating a side pot next to the 80K frozen main pot. Giguère called. The river was checked by both.

Sankari: Ace of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds
Giguère: Ace of Spades King of Hearts
Jaber: 5 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds

Board: 4 of Clubs 6 of Spades Ace of Hearts 3 of Hearts Jack of Hearts

Giguère’s check on the turn was very crafty, disguising his hand well. That allowed him to salvage some of the chips that the brutal river was about to take away from him.

The last 3 hands of the night have been announced, after which our Day 1A qualifiers will bag their chips.

Mr. Anderson scores a 200K pot

Anderson Frank-Graham raised to 7K pre-flop, which was called by Rohit K and Daniel Péloquin. On the flop, Péloquin checked to the raiser, who also checked. Rohit K, sitting on a monster 350K stack, went all-in from behind. Péloquin called, and so did Anderson.

Rohit K: Ace of Spades 10 of Hearts
Péloquin: 4 of Clubs 4 of Hearts
Anderson: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs

Board: 3 of Clubs 5 of Spades 2 of Clubs 8 of Spades King of Spades

Anderson, by electing to check his monster draw on the flop, induced oh-so-active Rohit to commit, and he did in flamboyant way. Rohit, who was crushing Day 1A, is still among the leaders after losing 100K!

Jerry Joseph Jaber seems to have taken quite a bit of chips from former chip leader Alberto Scuderi, either directly or by ricochet. Jaber has almost doubled his chips in just 3 levels, and now leads Day 1A. Karl Sahyouni is right on his heels, only a few chips behind.
