Albert Nguyen open raised to 8,500, and Anthony Khoury, after preparing a raising amount, startled the crowd with a flat call. The flop was checked by both players, and Nguyen placed his delayed continuation bet on the turn, dropping 10,500 in front of him. Khoury called.

When the river appeared, Nguyen was quick on the draw, and fired 23K. Khoury thought for a while, then lifted his head for the first time of the hand and looked at his opponent’s face. He finally announced all-in, sending Nguyen to the tank. It was 74K on top to call, and call he did.

Board: 6 of Clubs 10 of Spades King of Diamonds 9 of Spades 2 of Spades

Khoury showed: 5 of Spades 4 of Spades

Nguyen mucked his hand. His call indicates that he had something pretty good, and was trying to disguise that by checking the flop. The rest is runner runner history.

This pot was raised to 8,000 chips, and called once, when Joël Giguère decided to invest some chips. He 3bet to 28,500, and after the initial raiser folded, Nabil Nahoul called. The flop came out, and Nahoul checked it, waiting to see how Giguère felt about it. A continuation bet of 22K was placed, and Nahoul did not wait for too long before throwing his cards in.

    2018/03/25 - 12:36 by Jôle Simard

Tam Ho started the day in 5th place, with 277,500, about 40K below the leading stack. He was in a pot with Jocelyn poirier, and found what he was looking for on the turn:

Tam Ho: King of Diamonds Jack of Spades
Poirier: Queen of Diamonds Queen of Clubs

Board: 9 of Diamonds 4 of Hearts Jack of Diamonds Jack of Clubs 3 of Clubs

The money went in on the turn. Poirier’s Day 2 adventure was so cut short, and Tam Ho added another regiment to his army, and may very well be the new leader.

Fifteen short stacks have hit the rail after half a level.

Playground 200 Day 2 seating draw (with counts)

    2018/03/24 - 20:05 by

With a total of 750 entries, the Playground 200 in the March Power Weekend blew past the $100,000 guarantee by a full 50%, setting up a terrific Day 2 and Day 3 in the tournament. Of the 750 entries, 157 players are still in the tournament and will begin play at 12:00pm tomorrow – High Noon – to continue play. The prize pool hasn’t been released yet by tournament staff, but it’s a sure thing that the money bubble will be reached tomorrow on Day 2, as play will continue for 10 40-minute levels tomorrow.

    Jerry Joseph Jaber

The chip leader to start the day is the leader from Day 1A, Jerry Joseph Jaber, and is followed by Anderson Frank-Graham, from the same flight. The online Day 1 leader, Mat Aymerich, will start in 12th position by chip count on Day 2.

Good luck to everyone on Day 2!

Chips in the bag on Day 1C

    2018/03/24 - 19:19 by Shawn McCrory

Day 1C of the Playground 200 brought out a huge field of 286 players.

The massive turnout put 7,150,000 chips in play, and when the dust settled at the end of level 14 there were 62 players left to bag chips.

Here are the big stacks to emerge from Day 1C:

    First NameLast NameChip Count
    Dan Edery290,500
    PascalMonarque285,000
    Tam Ho 277,000
    MaximeLaberge262,000
    GrantEllis239,000
    CatherineGraves230,000

The Playground 200 easily surpassed its $100,000.00 guarantee, providing great value for the players. Our partners at partypoker also chipped in with some extra added value in the form of a last-longer free roll for the Playground 200 participants.

This final Day 1 put an exclamation point on an already popular tournament; between the three live Day 1s and the online flight on partypoker there were 750 entries for this event. Of those 750 entries, 157 players will return for tomorrow’s Day 2 at 12:00pm. Good luck to all!
