Grant Ellis raised to 22K and was called once before George Ciucuireano made it 110K to go. When the action got back to Ellis, he went all-in. They went to the board heads-up:

Ellis: Queen of Spades Queen of Diamonds
Ciucuireanu: Ace of Spades King of Clubs

Board: 3 of Spades 3 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs Queen of Clubs 5 of Hearts

The turn decided the outcome of the hand, and released the tension in both parties. Players are now on break.

Darryl Mah started the day with 53,000 chips, and was down to just 12K. From that amount, he initiated a comeback that got him to his actual 200K (or so).

His last win was a straight forward monster clash:

Darryl Mah: Ace of Hearts Ace of Diamonds
Denis Quirion: King of Hearts King of Diamonds

Board: 9 of Spades Queen of Hearts 2 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts

Quirion was eliminated on that hand, and Mah was all smiles, looking to the future with optimism.

Eric Davis was down to a single big blind, before winning the main pot in a hand that gave him a seven-fold increase. After that, he went straight back to the waiting game, and dropped to one big blind, again. That’s when this hand happened, all-in preflop:

Eric Davis: Jack of Diamonds Jack of Hearts
Éric Moniquier: Ace of Diamonds Jack of Clubs

When the dealer proceeded to reveal the board, the window card was an ace, but Davis did not despair for too long:

Jack of Spades King of Hearts Ace of Spades 5 of Clubs 5 of Spades

    Eric Davis
    Éric Moniquier

Twenty-four players busted since the bubble; an expected pace increase. Among these players, Jerry Joseph Jaber, the chip leader at the start of Day 2. Two unattended bags are still in at the tables. Both contained a little over 200K, and have about half of that left.

    The bubble has burst!

    • Level: 18
    • Small Blind: 3K
    • Big Blind: 6K
    • Button Ante: 6K
    • Chip Average: 215.5K

Hand-for-hand play only lasted a few minutes. After a few busts after the break, Rottanak Ly and Priam Syllion built a pot of almost 200K, and Ly was all-in on the river, covering Syllion, who went in the tank with his remaining 100K or so. It was the last table to finish on that hand, and Syllion was puzzled by his opponent’s play. He asked the 20 questions, including the old: ‘Will you show if I fold?’, but Ly did not bat a lash.

Syllion finally called, and the hands were tabled:

Board: 9 of Clubs 4 of Spades Ace of Spades 6 of Spades King of Hearts

Ly: 10 of Spades 9 of Spades
Syllion: Ace of Diamonds 9 of Hearts

Out on the bubble, with a flopped top 2-pair. Syllion gave the crowd a smile, and walked away. A minimum of $320 is in the bank for all remaining players.

Players have just taken a short break after 3 levels in Day 2 of the Playground 200. We are now only a few eliminations away from the money.

Joël Giguère was moved next to Miguel Goncalo, but that table broke minutes before the break. These two players had the top stacks, followed by Pierre Lauzé. That is, until Tam Ho had a feast from Maxime Laberge’s stack, just moments before the break, in a hand that created the biggest pot of the tournament so far. Laberge, who had been doing amazingly well, is now below average, and Tam Ho is in the driver’s seat.

Here is a list of the players who are currently working with more than 400K:

Albert Nguyen open raised to 8,500, and Anthony Khoury, after preparing a raising amount, startled the crowd with a flat call. The flop was checked by both players, and Nguyen placed his delayed continuation bet on the turn, dropping 10,500 in front of him. Khoury called.

When the river appeared, Nguyen was quick on the draw, and fired 23K. Khoury thought for a while, then lifted his head for the first time of the hand and looked at his opponent’s face. He finally announced all-in, sending Nguyen to the tank. It was 74K on top to call, and call he did.

Board: 6 of Clubs 10 of Spades King of Diamonds 9 of Spades 2 of Spades

Khoury showed: 5 of Spades 4 of Spades

Nguyen mucked his hand. His call indicates that he had something pretty good, and was trying to disguise that by checking the flop. The rest is runner runner history.
