Moments before the break, Daniel Leddy tried to pick up a pot by shoving his stack into Dan Edery. He couldn’t know that Edery had flopped a top pair and was waiting in the bushes for him to find some courage.

Edery has won a few pots and eliminated a few opponents, and is now in a commanding lead, nursing almost twice as many chips as Alex Barbosa, his closest rival.

Mathieu Aymerich came from the online Day 1 as the biggest qualified stack. After taking a beat against Marcel André Péroval, he was left with almost nothing. He did double those up with an ace high after dodging an unbelievable amount of outs, but fell to Alex Barbosa, who called his 250K button all-in from the big blind.

Aymerich: 5 of Spades 4 of Hearts
Barbosa: Queen of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Board: Ace of Hearts 6 of Spades 8 of Spades Jack of Spades King of Diamonds

Marcel André Péroval followed him. His 450K went in with Ace of Clubs 6 of Diamonds, but he couldn’t pull the upset against Joël Giguère’s Ace of Diamonds Jack of Clubs

Aymerich cashed $1,440, and Péroval got $1,740. Next pay jump is at 12 players.

Robert Dagenais’ elimination in 19th place meant that the Playground 200 was now merging to its last 2 tables. Shortly after the breaking of the table, it was Richard Moreau’s turn to bite the dust.

After that, Dan Edery and  Majid Khaled Hosseini got in a huge pot. A betting escalation brought the two all-in, and Edery was way behind.

Edery: Ace of Clubs Queen of Diamonds
Hosseini: Ace of Spades King of Hearts

Board: 8 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs 4 of Hearts 8 of Hearts Queen of Spades

Oh! That river. Hosseini is eliminated in 17th place, and Edery’s stack is now over 2M.

Dagenais, took $1,180, while Moreau and Hosseini got $1,440.

Cader and Ciucuireanu get the boot

Adam Cader and George Ciucuireanu were taken out from the same table. Cader’s Ace of Diamonds 10 of Clubs lost to Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs, and he left in 21st place.

Ciucuireanu first lost 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts to Karl Sahyouni’s 5 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs, which took care of half his stack. The rest of his chips went away when he flopped a pair to an opponent’s straight.

They both took $1,180 for their performance. Good job!

Isham Yamani, as we remember, lost kings to nines 3 hands before the end of Day 2. On his first hand tonight, he committed his 3 blinds with… Jack of Hearts Jack of Spades! His jacks fell to Ace of Diamonds 9 of Spades, after the board produced an ace on the turn.

Yamani’s Playground 200 adventure ended on a rather sour note, but he still did a great job. Moments after his departure, Ryan Jensen followed. They both take $1,000 for their Day 3 appearance.

    The conclusion

    2018/03/26 - 18:54 by Jôle Simard

The Playground 200, the marquee event of the March Power Weekend, will see its conclusion tonight at Playground Poker Club. From the 157 Day 2 qualifiers, only 23 remained after yesterday’s 10 levels of action.

Three tables are getting ready to welcome these Day 3 players, who will reunite with their chips at 7:00pm. The tournament staff is sorting out the bags and placing them in front of the seats decided by the random draw.

Our Day 3 qualifiers are waiting for the gong, trying to empty their mind and be in the best shape to tackle the task at hand: outlast all opponents and put their hand on the $26,262.00 first prize! Although a lot of poker will be played tonight, Joël Giguère is currently in the best spot to address that challenge, with his crushing 1,810,000 stack. This being said, many players can hurt him, some of which have the deep-run experience to do so, and at this point, any misstep can be very costly.

In a few minutes, cards will be in the air. Stay tuned for live updates all the way to the crowning of our champion!
