    Bob T

Antoine Simon champion of 6-max Re-entry

    2019/02/25 - 21:25 by Bob T

The 6-max Re-entry event started at 12 noon and attracted 113 players for an afternoon of tournament poker.

The players had done an ICM chop when they were four handed and had left the required $162 for the 1st place winner.  Khanroy Fernandez was crushing for hours, and when play went three handed, he had close to a six to one chip advantage over Antoine Simon, and a little more than a four to one advantage over Robert Gosselin.

Winning a tournament requires a certain amount of aggression and although Kahnroy had most of the chips, Antoine seemed to play the most aggressively of the three finalists. When play went heads-up, Antoine was shoving quite a bit and chipping up along the way until he had a slight lead.

On the final hand of play, the flop came King of Spades 5 of Hearts 8 of Hearts and action went check-check. The turn brought the 3 of Spades and again we saw check-check. The river was the Jack of Clubs and all of the sudden things seemed to blow up. Before it was said and done, there was a three bet, followed by a four bet and finally a five bet shove. Antoine opened his hand: King of Clubs 8 of Diamonds. He had flopped two pair. Kahnroy looked at his cards again, and, realizing he couldn’t beat two pair, his cards went into the muck and we had our champion, Antoine Simon.

    1st place: Antoine Simon, $1,595

    Last hand of play:

2nd place: Kahnroy Fernandez, $1,710 (NB: 2nd place paid as per ICM chop)

The heads up battle has been fierce and Antoine is chipping up. Hand after hand he has been putting pressure on Khanroy and he now has the larger stack.  In the photo below, Kahnroy tanked for over a minute before folding his hand on the turn, as he has done now more than just once.

It’s still though either player’s game.

Khanroy is still way ahead of the other two players as play continues three handed.

        1. Khanroy 1.2M
        2. Antoine 220K
        3. Robert 380k

As we were writing this post, Robert Gosselin busted out in 3rd place.

We are now heads-up for the win.

    ICM deal has been reached

    • Level: 20
    • Small Blind: 15K
    • Big Blind: 30K
    • BB Ante: 15K
    • Chip Average: 566.6K

As soon as Jonathan Brown was eliminated, the players asked the floor to pause the clock so that they could discuss a deal. They asked to see the ICM numbers and the floor took the chip counts to enter into the computer. The players have to leave at least $162 for the 1st place finisher.

The numbers were given to the players and all agreed with the deal:

      1. Khanroy $1,710
      2. Antoine $1435
      3. Robert $1,225
      4. Denis $1,165

A few hands later we lost Denis in 4th place.

The tournament is now playing to a winner who will receive another $162.

    Anderson falls in 6th place

    • Level: 19
    • Small Blind: 10K
    • Big Blind: 20K
    • BB Ante: 10K
    • Chip Average: 425K
    • Remaining: 4
    • Entries: 113

    2019/02/25 - 19:31 by Bob T

After losing a substantial portion of his stack, Anderson picked up 8 of Diamonds 8 of Spades and got it in against Khanroy who had King of Spades Queen of Diamonds.

Anderson flopped a set on a 8 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds Ace of Diamonds flop, but , again there was a sweat as Khanroy still had outs with a gut shot and a backdoor flush draw. Turn: 2 of Diamonds, and the sweat was even worse now. River: King of Diamonds and Khanroy knocked out Anderson hitting his flush on the river.

A few hands later we lost Jonathan Brown in 5th place.

    • Anderson F. 6th place ($550)
    • Jonathan Brown 5th place ($700)

    Big slick for the win

    • Level: 19
    • Small Blind: 10K
    • Big Blind: 20K
    • BB Ante: 10K
    • Chip Average: 340K
    • Remaining: 5
    • Entries: 113

    2019/02/25 - 19:09 by Bob T

Anderson liked his suited connectors and led out with a bet. Antoine decided to 3-bet, as he often does.  Knowing that Antoine is an aggressive player, Anderson went with a 4-bet shove. Antoine snapped.

Anderson: Jack of Clubs 10 of Clubs
Antoine: Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs

Board: 9 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds King of Hearts Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts and Anderson had to ship 174K to Antoine.
