Final Table of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship Main Event

    Johnny Mazzaferro doubles up

  • Level: 30
  • Small Blind: 50K
  • Big Blind: 100K
  • Ante: 15K
  • Chip Average: 2.9M
  • Remaining: 11
  • Entries: 1079

  • Sitting in middle position, we just saw Johnny Mazzaferro place his remaining 1.365M chips all-in, and go heads-up with Daniel Gagne from the big blind.

Johnny turned over 6 of Spades 6 of Clubs, and needed some help to win against the Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs of Daniel. The flop was dangerous, but still very good for the sixes, as it showed 6 of Hearts 10 of Hearts 7 of Hearts, and with blanks on the turn and river (3 of Spades and 9 of Clubs), Johnny doubled up to over 2.7M.

We are still just one elimination away from our final table of 10.

    12th place: Ami Alibay

  • Level: 29
  • Small Blind: 40K
  • Big Blind: 80K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.9M
  • Remaining: 11
  • Entries: 1079

  • Following a hand where Ami saw just over 1 million of his chips go towards John Paul Tabago (where the 3 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs of Ami lost to the Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades on a Ace of Spades 6 of Spades 4 of Clubs Queen of Spades 5 of Spades board), Ami found himself all-in with his remaining chips versus Alexender Wong.

Ami: Ace of Hearts 7 of Hearts

Alexender: 4 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds

The board was good to Alexender, showing the 8 of Clubs 10 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds 4 of Clubs Jack of Spades, and Ami busted in 12th place.

    12th place: Ami Alibay, $13,292

    Ami Alibay

    13th place: Matthew Brunskole

  • Level: 29
  • Small Blind: 40K
  • Big Blind: 80K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.7M
  • Remaining: 12
  • Entries: 1079

  • Holding a stack of 740K, which is less than 10BB, Matthew Brunskole took advantage of an unopened pot as he shoved from the button. Unfortunately for him, Marco Caza had a hand to call from the big blind.

Matthew: 10 of Spades 8 of Diamonds

Marco: King of Hearts Jack of Spades

The board ran out Queen of Spades Ace of Spades 8 of Spades Jack of Clubs 6 of Spades, and Matthew’s ten-high flush was second best to Marco’s jack-high flush, thus eliminating him in 13th place.

    13th place: Matthew Brunskole, $10,675

  • Chip Average: 2.5M

  • Frederic Bunchan was just caught with his hand in the cookie jar, as he bluff-shoved the river and was called. The hand began with him limping in from the button, and seeing a flop with the blinds, Daniel Gagne and John Paul Tabago. All three checked the flop of 3 of Spades Ace of Hearts 8 of Diamonds, and Daniel lead out for 80K when the King of Hearts hit the turn. John Paul folded, and Frederic bumped it up to 160K, which Daniel called. The river was the 4 of Diamonds, and after Daniel checked, Frederic announced he was all-in for his last 650K. Daniel tanked for a few minutes, and finally made the call.

Frederic: 6 of Clubs 9 of Spades

Daniel: 8 of Hearts 10 of Clubs

The hero call was good, and Frederic was eliminated in 14th place. Daniel now has an impressive 6.3M stack.

    14th place: Frederic Bunchan, $10,675

  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.2M
  • Remaining: 15
  • Entries: 1079

  • In a heated battle of the blinds, we saw Maxime Theroux get his 975K stack all into the middle versus Mario Lim, who had him covered by almost twice that amount.

Maxime: Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts

Mario: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Maxime didn’t improve on a 3 of Spades 3 of Hearts 6 of Hearts 10 of Hearts 4 of Clubs board, and was eliminated in 16th place, good for $9,210.

    16th place: Maxime Theroux, $9,210

  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2M
  • Remaining: 16
  • Entries: 1079

  • With only around 650K left, Nicholas Petrina shoved all-in from the big blind after Ami Alibay had opened from the button.

Nicholas: Ace of Spades 7 of Hearts

Ami: 8 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

The board of Jack of Hearts Queen of Hearts 3 of Spades Queen of Diamonds 10 of Clubs held for Ami’s pair of eights, as Nicholas was eliminated in 17th place.

    17th place: Nicholas Petrina, $9,210

More eliminations lead to a redraw

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 1.9M
  • Remaining: 17

  • We’ve lost a few more players and are now down to our final 2 tables, which means there is another redraw scheduled.

    18th place: James Nortcliff, $9,210

    James Nortcliff

Osman Soubra shoved his short 355K stack over Daniel Gagne’s 130K open, and got the call.

Osman: King of Spades Jack of Hearts

Daniel: Ace of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds

The dealer drew a board of 4 of Diamonds 2 of Spades 7 of Clubs 2 of Clubs 6 of Clubs, thus eliminating Osman in 19th place.

    19th place: Osman Soubra, $8,268

Osman Soubra4 players went to see a flop after Alexendre Wong opened preflop to 120K, and got called by Brent Wheeler on the button, Pierre Guenette from the small blind and Eric Afriat from the big blind. The flop showed 5 of Clubs Ace of Clubs King of Spades, and it checked to Alexendre, who lead out 185K. It folded to Eric, who then shoved and was quickly called by Alexendre.

Alexendre: King of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Eric: 4 of Spades 5 of Hearts

The turn and river were of no help to Eric, showing a 2 of Spades and 9 of Hearts, and he was eliminated in 20th place.

    20th place: Eric Afriat, $8,268

    Alexandre Lavigne out in 21st

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 1.6M
  • Remaining: 20
  • Entries: 1079

  • Alexandre Lavigne won’t be making back-to-back final tables as he was just eliminated here midway through Day 3. After Marco Caza opened to 105K from the cut-off, Alexandre went all-in for his remaining 700K, and was called by Daniel Gagne in the big blind. Marco folded, and it was heads-up.

Alexandre: Ace of Clubs 10 of Diamonds

Daniel: 8 of Spades 8 of Diamonds

Alexandre failed to improve on a 5 of Spades 9 of Spades 6 of Clubs 3 of Clubs 5 of Clubs board, and was sent home in 21st place.

The blind level changed right after this hand.

    21st place: Alexandre Lavigne, $8,268
