  • Action folded around to Karo Lyne Dufour in the small blind, and she moved her 435K stack into the middle with only Michael David Yeomans left to act, who made a quick call with his 900K+ stack.

Karo Lyne: 5 of Diamonds 5 of Spades
Michael: Ace of Spades King of Clubs

Michael gave a little fist pump when he saw the window card, an Ace of Clubs, and his pair held up on a board of 8 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts Ace of Clubs 2 of Diamonds 3 of Spades, sending Karo Lyne to the cashiers to collect her $3,115 prize.

8th place: Karo Lyne Dufour, $3,115

  • Trieu Dung Hong has eliminated Jerome St-Onge in 9th place for $2,335.00.

Trieu raised from middle position to 60K and Jerome went deep in the tank from two seats to his left. After about 2 minutes he quietly announced “all-in”. Everyone folded back to the initial raiser who quickly called.

Trieu Dung Hong: King of Clubs King of Diamonds
Jerome St-Onge: Ace of Clubs King of Spades

The Kings held on a board of 4 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 8 of Hearts 10 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds and Trieu added Jerome’s 320K stack to his own.

    9th place: Jerome St-Onge, $2,335.00

  • The final table has just had its first elimination. Kelly Smith started the final table with just 48K in chips but in early action had doubled up to just over 100K. In the hand in question it folded around to her in the hijack and she pushed her two stacks to the centre. Karo Lyne Dufour in the cutoff insta-shoved over the top and the button and blinds folded.

Kelly flipped over a serious hand – Ace of Hearts Queen of Hearts, but unfortunately for her, Karo had the most serious hand – Ace of Diamonds Ace of Clubs.

The board runout of 6 of Clubs 9 of Clubs 6 of Hearts 5 of Hearts 10 of Clubs didn’t give Kelly help (though the turn was a pretty interesting card) and her tournament is over.

    10th place: Kelly Smith, $1,745.00

    11th place: David Baba

David Baba was eliminated one spot shy of the final table of Event 4. Jason Griffith open the action preflop to 40K from early position, and Kelly Smith moved all-in next to act. David Baba then announced he was also all-in, but his stack was considerably smaller than the other two. Jason hesitated for a minute before completing both all-ins, and all three were off to the flop.

Jason Griffith: Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades

Kelly Smith: 3 of Clubs 3 of Spades

David Baba: 6 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds

The board of 2 of Spades 10 of Hearts Ace of Hearts Queen of Clubs 9 of Diamonds was what Jason was hoping for, as it paired his ace (and his queen), good enough to scoop the pot. Kelly was left with a mere 48K, but will be back tomorrow for the final table.

With that elimination, Day 2 of Event 4 is now complete, and the final table will be played out tomorrow afternoon at 3:00pm (Thursday March 27th).

    Interesting dynamics

  • Since Justin Leeson doubled through Mark Fitzpatrick there have been some interesting dynamics on the table he shares with Michael Malm, Karo Lyne Dufour, Larry Farr, and Daniel Smouha. The action at the table has gotten very aggressive preflop and when the action is being contested between 2 or 3 of the large stacks at the table each move has huge implications.

One hand in particular is illustrative. Daniel raised UTG to 36K and Justin called. Michael then 3-bet to 155K and got a fold from Daniel. Justin was another story – he chose to 4-bet shove his almost 600K stack, which Michael covered but by a very small margin.

Michael went in the tank for about 4 minutes until he finally folded and Justin stacked the chips.

    Justin Leeson 4-Bets All-In

    12th place: Mark Fitzpatrick

  • Mark Fitzpatrick has been eliminated in 12th place for $1,605.

The elimination was a two-stage affair that started with Justin Leeson open jamming his 295K stack from the button and Mark called from the Small Blind. The Big Blind folded and the hands were turned over.

Justin: Ace of Spades King of Diamonds
Mark: Ace of Hearts Queen of Hearts

The flop was very fortunate for Mark: 8 of Diamonds 3 of Hearts 2 of Hearts but Justin faded Mark’s flush outs with an Ace of Clubs turn and Jack of Spades river. The hand left Mark with under 100K in chips.

A few hands later Mark open shoved 93K from middle position and was called by Daniel Smouha in the BB.

Mark: King of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds
Daniel: Ace of Hearts King of Clubs

The runout of 6 of Hearts 4 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds 3 of Spades Ace of Spades was no help to Mark and he is eliminated.

  • Michael Malm is trying to make his second final table in this Playground Poker Spring Classic, and has just increased his stack by over 200K by eliminating Faizel Satchu in 13th place.

Michael raised to 37K from UTG, and was faced with a decision when Faizel went all-in from the big blind for around 230K. He finished by making the call, but needed to improve if he was to win the hand.

Michael: King of Hearts Queen of Hearts
Faizel: Ace of Diamonds 10 of Clubs

The flop was good for Michael, and the turn even better as it assured him the win on a board of 2 of Diamonds Jack of Clubs King of Spades King of Clubs 2 of Clubs.
