  • Mario Lim had a tough start to the day as we wrote earlier, and although he fought hard to rebuild his stack and had some success at doing so, eventually he ran out of luck.

In his elimination hand, Mario open shoved and it folded around to Johnny Mazzaferro who didn’t seem thrilled but made the call anyhow.

Mario: King of Clubs 3 of Clubs
Johnny: Ace of Hearts Jack of Spades

The flop brought a sweat for Johnny – 9 of Clubs 9 of Spades 2 of Clubs but the turn and river – 10 of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds bricked and Mario was eliminated.

    6th place: Mario Lim, $36,108.00

  • Mario Lim started the day with a healthy stack but has taken a beating in two hands and is now the short stack at the table.

In one hand he doubled up Jason Comtois when his flush draw couldn’t drop to beat Jason’s pocket Queens. Just a few hands later he then doubled John Paul Tabago who shoved King of Hearts 4 of Clubs and hit a 4 on the flop to make the best hand.

The final seating re-draw in the event took place at 10 players remaining, so play today will continue with players in the same relative positions as yesterday.

  • We just lost 2-time final tableist of the Montreal WPT Sylvain Siebert, as he just got into a betting war with Alexender Wong preflop. Alexender opened the pot from the cut-off to 240K, and was faced with a 3bet to 660K from Sylvain. He then 4bet to 1.2M, to which Sylvain responded with a shove of just over 2.7M. Alexender made the call, and seemed a little surprised to see what Sylvain went all-in with.

Alexender: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Sylvain: King of Spades 7 of Spades

The board was interesting for both of them, but mainly for Alexender, who flopped a full house on the 7 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts Jack of Clubs flop. The turn gave Sylvain a little more life, bringing the King of Clubs, but the river 6 of Diamonds sealed the win for Alexender, who is now hovering around the 8 million chip mark now.

We are now just one elimination of our official final table of 6.

  • Johnny Mazzaferro opened from UTG+1 to 260K, and saw his bet get raised to 1M by Mario Lim. Brent Wheeler then moved all-in from the big blind for just under 1.1M, followed by a fold from Johnny and a call by Mario.

Mario: Jack of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Brent: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds

The board ran in favour of Mario, showing Queen of Diamonds 5 of Spades 6 of Clubs 8 of Spades 10 of Diamonds, and Brent was eliminated in 9th for $17,792.

  • Marco Caza has been eliminated in 10th place after a long spell of very careful play on the final table of 10 players.

Jason Comtois opened the action with a raise preflop to 280K. Daniel Gagne re-raised to 530K and then Marco 4-bet shoved his under-average (but not short) stack. Jason folded and Daniel called.

Marco: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts
Daniel: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs

Marco was dominated and the board offered no help: Jack of Hearts 9 of Clubs 4 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs.

    10th place: Marco Caza, $13,292.00
