Kenneth McFarlane out in 27th, Samuel Chartier in 26th, Daniel Cote in 25th

Kenneth McFarlane was the first player out after the redraw at 27 players, as his 6 of Hearts 6 of Clubs lost against the Ace of Hearts King of Clubs of John Paul Tabago on a Queen of Diamonds 7 of Spades Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades 9 of Clubs board.

27th place: Kenneth McFarlane, $6,384

Kenneth McFarlaneSamuel Chartier was trying to run his 10BB stack up, and in an unopened pot preflop, he went all-in from the cut-off with Ace of Hearts 9 of Clubs, and was called by James Nortcliff from the small blind with Ace of Clubs Jack of Hearts. The board of 4 of Hearts 3 of Spades 3 of Hearts 4 of Clubs Ace of Diamonds was of no help to Samuel, and his run at this WPT Canadian Spring Championship ended in 26th place.

26th place: Samuel Chartier, $6,384

In a battle of the blinds, Daniel Cote found himself all-in versus neighbour Nicholas Petrina, but his Kx8x didn’t improve versus Nicholas’ KxJx.

    More players hit the rail

There has been a lot of movement on these final 4 tables in the last few orbits, and we’ve recently lost two more players.

Xiao Peng found herself all-in preflop versus John Paul Tabago, but was drawing slim whe John Paul flopped a set of nines with 9 of Spades 9 of Diamonds versus Xiao’s Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades on a 9 of Hearts 4 of Clubs 3 of Hearts 7 of Hearts 7 of Clubs board.

    31st place: Xiao Peng, $5,442

Xiao PengEric Davis has also hit the rail, when his Queen of Clubs 9 of Hearts was unable to overcome Alexendre Wong’s Ace of Spades 10 of Diamonds on a Queen of Hearts Ace of Hearts 3 of Clubs Jack of Spades 4 of Hearts board.

    Sammy Chao eliminated

  • Sammy Chao was being slowly blinded out, and it was inevitable that we would see him get his chips in sooner rather than later. David Lanthier opened from early position to 85K, and Sammy went all-in from the small blind for a total of 105K. Johnny Mazzaferro, sitting in the big blind, saw that it was not a legal raise and decided to complete the extra 65K, knowing that David can’t reraise. They checked the flop and turn, but when the river came on a board showing 7 of Hearts Ace of Hearts 6 of Clubs 6 of Spades 4 of Clubs, Johnny slid out a bet of 200K. David looked disgusted, and made the fold, while Johnny turned over 5 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds for the straight. Sammy showed Queen of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds for queen-high, and was sent to the cashiers to collect his $5,442 prize.

    32nd place: Sammy Chao, $5,442

  • Ruben took most of Andrew’s chips several hands earlier, and on his elimination hand he went all-in with Queen of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds. Maxime Theroux was the other player in the hand and he tabled King of Clubs Queen of Spades. The board ran out 8 of Hearts 5 of Hearts Jack of Clubs 7 of Hearts Jack of Hearts to sent Andrew home early.

Alexandre Lavigne chips up, Samuel Chartier loses some

  • Small Blind: 20K
  • Big Blind: 40K
  • Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 1M
  • Remaining: 32
  • Entries: 1079

  • We just saw Alexandre Lavigne bet his remaining 480K preflop from UTG+1, and get a quick call from Tyson Erback, who had just a little less in chips. Alexandre turned over King of Hearts King of Diamonds and was up against the Ace of Spades King of Spades of Tyler. The board of 8 of Clubs 2 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs was the last one Tyson saw in the WPT Canadian Spring Championship, but he will still collect a prize of $5,442 for his deep run.

    34th place: Tyson Erback, $5,442

    Tyson Erback

A few hands before this we saw Samuel Chartier lose a portion of his stack to Daniel Gagner, as he shoved over Daniel 105K bet on a flop of 10 of Clubs Jack of Spades Queen of Diamonds. Daniel made the call with Ace of Diamonds Queen of Hearts, and had to hold versus Samuel’s King of Spades 8 of Hearts. The turn and river we bricks, showing 3 of Spades 2 of Hearts, and Daniel doubled up to over 1.2M, while Samuel dropped to just over 500K.

    Jakupovski out

  • Level: 26
  • Small Blind: 20K
  • Big Blind: 40K
  • Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 980.9K
  • Remaining: 33
  • Entries: 1079

  • Short-stacked Selajtin Jakupovski is out in 35th place. He went all-in with his last 180K holding Jack of Clubs 4 of Clubs. Frederic Bunchan (button) re-raised to 360K to isolate, the blinds folded and he flipped over Queen of Spades Queen of Diamonds.

The board ran out 7 of Clubs 3 of Hearts Jack of Diamonds 10 of Spades 2 of Diamonds and Selajtin is out of the tournament.

    35th place: Selajtin Jakupovski, $5,442

    Perceval doubles through Humphrey

  • Level: 26
  • Small Blind: 20K
  • Big Blind: 40K
  • Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 924.9K
  • Remaining: 35
  • Entries: 1079

  • When we arrived at the table both players were all-in with Andrew Humphrey covering Ruben Percival by just over 200K (both players were relatively short-stacked).

Ruben: Ace of Spades King of Spades
Andrew: 9 of Clubs 9 of Spades

Community cards: Queen of Hearts 8 of Hearts 6 of Spades 7 of Clubs Ace of Diamonds

The Ace on the river gave Ruben top pair and he doubled up. Andrew is left with about 5BB.

  • Below you’ll find an album of the players who have returned for Day 3 of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship Main Event.

    Jonathan Poissant eliminated

  • Level: 25
  • Small Blind: 15K
  • Big Blind: 30K
  • Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 899.2K
  • Remaining: 36
  • Entries: 1079

  • Jonathan Poissant raised from UTG to 70K. Action folded around to chip leader Mario Lim in the Big Blind, who shoved. Jonathan insta-called and flipped King of Hearts King of Spades, which was stronger than Mario had anticipated – he held 4 of Hearts 4 of Spades.

The flop was safe for Jonathan: 5 of Clubs 9 of Spades 8 of Spades but the 4 of Diamonds on the turn was a terrible card and the 6 of Hearts on the river couldn’t save it for him. Jonathan leaves the tournament in 37th place.

With the tournament down to 36 players, a table has broken and play continues on 4 tables.
