  • Day 3 of Event 1 is going to resume tonight at 7pm, and there are still 33 players remaining all with a chance of winning that $35,250 first prize!

Last fall it was Stéphanie Daigle who outlasted a field of 895 entries to take home the $24,000 win. Will it be another woman who will rise as the winner this year? Erica has been holding on strong throughout Day 2, and earned a key double up with aces in the final minutes of the day, bringing her stack up to 900K. Marilyn, our other female contender, has been quietly chipping up here and there, and is now sitting atop 1.1M.

Or will it be one of the current chipleaders who will maintain control and take the money home? Both Simon Pier and Mehdi, holding 2.35M and 2.21M respectively, were nothing more than average stacks until the final levels of Day 2. They both ended up on the winning end of some massive pots, and grew to be well over the tournament average of 850K.

Local grinders Stephen and George are showing that they are here to win, and both considerably increased their net worth in the final stages of the day. Stephen is up to 1.35M, largely due to winning with back to back aces, whereas George managed to double his stack up to just over 1M in the final hand of the night, as his A9o all-in shove preflop held against a QJs call.

Former chip leader Mohamad Mahbouba also came off more than a double-up in the last instants of the night; however he is still below the chip average with 773K.

Playground regulars Ricky and Andy also have a good chance at making it deep. Ricky has been nurturing his below average stack most of the day, but still holds almost 10BB, and Andy has increased his stack from below 250K to over 650K in the final two levels of play yesterday.

So who will be our Event 1 Champion? Find out tonight! Action starts at 7pm, and we will be providing live updates and photos throughout the night here at the Playground Poker Club blog: events.playgroundpoker.ca.

    Good luck to all!
