Media Release
Monday November 11th, 2013
In the world of Canadian poker it seems like the month of November is becoming a historical one, all starting when the 2012 PartyPoker.net WPT Montreal set Canadian attendance records for an event with a buy-in over $1500. November of 2013 is shaping up to be another one for the history books as Playground Poker Club will host two of the largest Canadian events of the year – WPT Montreal and the PartyPoker.net Premier League VII. The two headline events are being held during the Playground Poker Fall Classic, running from November 18th-December 6th.
Participation in this year’s WPT Montreal is expected to be even higher than last year, but what’s even more interesting is the amount of broadcast quality poker programming being produced out of Playground. This year’s WPT Montreal main event will be fully televised, with all the bells and whistles of any mainstream TV production. The set will eat up close to 5400 square feet of floor space alone, not including the additional rooms for production crew and commentary. The main event will produce a minimum of 2 hours of HD poker programming with filming of the final table set to start at 4PM on December 5th.
In addition to the WPT Montreal main event, the PartyPoker.net Premier League Poker VII, one of poker’s most prestigious TV poker productions, will also be hosted at Playground Poker Club from November 20th to 26th. This WPT Special Event will see 12 of poker’s biggest names pony up 125K big ones for a chance at grabbing a piece of the $1.5M prize pool with a top prize of $400K. Montreal’s own Jonathan Duhamel will have home court advantage against the likes of Tony G, Vanessa Selbst, Sam Trickett, Dan Shak, Daniel “Jungleman” Cates, Greg Merson and Playground Players Club members Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak and Jeff Gross, and 2 players yet to be announced.
The PartyPoker.net Premier League VII will produce a minimum of 22 hours of television and will be syndicated all over the world. The WPT Montreal main event final table and the Premier League VII will produce a total combined 24 hours of poker television shot in Canada. The Premier League alone will produce more television content than any other poker event in Canadian history.
Poker players and fans of televised poker are encouraged to check out the action at Playground Poker Club, starting on November 20th. The WPT Montreal and Premier League VII are two world-class poker events that will attract huge fields and the biggest names in poker.
