Players Club member Jean-Philippe Piquette has been eliminated from the tournament in a really ugly hand that also eliminated Maxime Laberge while giving a huge boost to Chang Hwan Sohn.
Dean Murphy opened the action in early position with a raise to 5K. Chang, sitting in seat 2, 3-bet a huge 44K, and Maxime (in seat 3) shoved over the top for what we would eventually learn was 78K. Jean-Philippe then insta-jammed his marginally larger stack (from seat 4) and it folded back around to Chang, who asked for counts of the all-in bets and then went in the tank.
Eventually his math told him that although he was sure he had the worst hand he had to call anyhow, and so he called.

The players in the Main Event have completed the first level of the day (+ 15 mins) and the action is typically fast and furious to get things started. 240 players started today and there have already been 38 eliminations though Philippe “takechip” D’Auteuil is the only well-known player to have hit the rail.
There will be a live stream of the Main Event of the PokerStars Canada Cup from today until the end of the event. The English commentary is being provided by James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton, while French coverage is being provided by Dominic Fugère from RDS alongside Philippe Jetté (from Prince Poker) and – if she is eliminated from the event – Laurence Grondin.

Event 7 of the PokerStars Canada Cup was a $185 + $15 + $100 No Limit Hold’em Bounty event that started on May 24th, 2014 at Playground Poker Club. There were 282 total participants which generated a prize pool of $50,605 that was distributed as follows.
Note there was a player deal made with 8 players remaining. They agreed to reserve $2,500 and the PokerStars Canada Cup trophy for the winner and evenly divide the rest of the remaining prize pool. The following payout table reflects this agreement.

Tamer is a very skilled local tournament player who may play less frequently than some, but is no less feared at the table. There was a deal made on the final table with the top 8 players each taking $4,450, reserving $2,500 and the PokerStars Canada Cup trophy for first place.

Event 6 of the PokerStars Canada Cup is a 5-Day No Limit Hold’em Event with a $3,000 + $300 buy-in and a $2,000,000 Prize Pool guarantee. There were three Day 1 starting flights and there were a total of 578 entries. Based on the number of entries, the total prize pool is $2,000,000, from which was subtracted the 3% for staff gratuities according to the published rules of the event. This prize pool will be paid out according to the following table.
