PokerStars Canada Cup Main Event Day 2 seating chart & counts

The three Day 1 starting flights of Event 6 in the PokerStars Canada Cup have concluded. There were a total of 578 entries, of whom 240 players qualified for Day 2. As a next-day re-entry event, players had the right to enter multiple flights even if they had qualified for Day 2 in a previous flight (shorter stack would be forfeit). In this tournament, no players qualified in multiple starting flights and no chips have been removed from the event for this reason.

Play continues tomorrow (Sunday, May 25th) at 11am, when players will take their seats according to the following official seating chart. The chip counts included in this list are player-reported and may not be exact. Click/tap on a table heading to sort.

It’s a bounty tournament!

In just under an hour, players will take their seats for the $185 + $15 + $100 No Limit Hold’em Bounty Event – Event 7 in the PokerStars Canada Cup!

Traditionally this is an event that closes out Tournament Series’ here at Playground Poker Club, but it’s such a popular event we decided to hold it on a Saturday night instead so that we can meet player demand. The event has a cap of 250 players and the event should grow to at least that number of players.

In a Bounty tournament, part of the entry fee goes to the prize pool ($185 in this case) and part of it is represented by $100 Bounty chips that each player keeps along with their stack. If you bust another player from the tournament, you get their $100 Bounty chip (but they keep the ones they’ve earned by eliminating other players). This wrinkle doesn’t seem like that big a deal in theory, but in practice, it leads to some, ahem, interesting hands when players’ decisions are overly influenced by the $100 a player can earn.

Good luck to all of the players!

  • Tonight is the PokerStars Canada Cup Player’s party, being held here at The Rail from 9pm to 11pm (and continuing until ???) with a live DJ, hors d’oeuvres, and most importantly an Open Bar! Any PokerStars Canada Cup player is welcome – so come on out to the Club and join us at The Rail.

  • The tournament flight is half-way through level 4 and the players will be taking their second break in about 20 minutes. The eyes that aren’t glued to the poker table are wandering almost exclusively to the Champions League Final that is being played in Lisbon today!

Registration is up to 271 with two more levels (plus the dinner break) left to late register, and the numbers today, while solid, will likely not quite make it up to the level required to hit the guarantee… which means added value for everyone in the field!

  • One of the greatest things about this event so far are the sheer number of fantastic poker players who have come out to compete for a share of the prize pool. Earlier we have seen Antonio Esfandiari, Jeff Gross, Marc-André Ladouceur, and Jonathan Duhamel, among others.

Today there are some more top names in poker who have jumped in the event. Victor Ramdin is here, as is November Niner Marc-Etienne McLaughlin and his partner Laurence Grondin, Canadian tournament superstars Mike Watson and Mike Leah, and many more.

Registration today is up to 231 players and late registration is still open for 5.5 hours, so there’s lots of time to come out to Playground and play with your heroes!

  • We have had our first elimination of the day and it went down in truly horrific (for the losing player) fashion… Mario Lim, who final tabled the WPT Canadian Spring Championship, was holding pocket 6s, flopped a set and the turn K gave him his boat… only to show down (with all of the chips in the middle) and find out his opponent – Vancouver lawyer Jason Mann – had turned quad Kings.
