The former world champion Jonathan Duhamel was on a good run in this High Roller Event of the Pokerstars Canada Cup, but it just came to an end when he 3bet shoved his 114K stack over Samuel Chartier’s 11K open. Samuel made the quick call, and they were off to the flop:

Jonathan couldn’t hit anything on the board of , and was send to the cashiers to pick up his earnings.

In a hand that was made for TV, Kevin MacDonald was crippled to 2bb by David Yan. David opened to 10K from the button, and called Kevin’s all-in of just over 100K from the big blind.

The flop was definitely an interesting one, bringing out . The turn didn’t change much, adding a to the board, but the river gave David a better full house.
Kevin was left with only 11K behind, and found himself all-in the very next hand with a respectable , but was crushed by Ami Alibay’s on a board of .

In a hand that nearly played itself at this stage of the tournament, Ali Alibay found himself doubling his 140K stack through David on the first hand back from break. They both got all their chips in on the flop of , with David holding top-top ( ) and Ami holding a set of jacks ( ). Ami had the hand locked down by the turn (), and the river was a meaningless .
Ami is up to almost 300K now, while David dropped down to 120K.
We are on what is scheduled to be the last break of the night, with 2 levels left to go before the 10 levels of Day 2 are completed. Should all the players remaining after these 10 levels agree, the tournament might be played out to completion today. Otherwise it will go on break until Day 3 tomorrow, Thursday May 22nd, at 1pm.

After chipping down in the last few orbits, Timothy Adams was sitting on just over ten big blinds when he got his chips in preflop versus David Yan. Unfortunately for him, he went in as the underdog, and couldn’t manage to double up.

With the most recent elimination of Jason Duval in 7th place, Event 4 is now in the money!
Samuel Chartier opened under the gun to 4.5K, and was called by Kevin MacDonald from the small blind. Jason Duval the squeezed all-in from the big blind for around 45K, which got Samuel to fold, but not Kevin, who completed the call.

Danny Lauzon raised preflop to 6K from middle position, and was flat called by Samuel Chartier from the button. The two players went heads-up to the flop, which read . Danny fired 13K, and Samuel called. The turn brought the , and Danny fired another 25K, which was followed by an all-in from Samuel. Danny reluctantly threw in the chips, and called out for a heart.
