  • Kevin MacDonald, who is fresh off a 5th place winner in Event 4 – High Roller, has been eliminated from the Main Event of the PokerStars Canada Cup.

On a flop of 7 of Clubs 2 of Hearts 3 of Spades, Justin Miller check min-raised Kevin’s 50K bet, to which Kevin responded with an all-in of 595K. Justin went into the tank for a minute, but eventually made the call.

Kevin: Ace of Hearts 2 of Diamonds

Justin: 9 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds

Justin remained ahead, with the turn and river bringing the 6 of Hearts and 9 of Spades, and Kevin picked up his second $20K+ cash of this series.

    13th place: Kevin MacDonald, $21,920

  • McKenzie James Liebzeit is out in 14th place. His elimination was an extended affair which took several hands in an orbit and a half to complete.

It all went wrong for McKenzie when he opened on the button to 40K and then Ryan Rivers went all-in from the big blind. Action returned to McKenzie and he went in the tank before eventually calling the 398K bet.

McKenzie: Ace of Spades 7 of Diamonds
Ryan: King of Clubs Queen of Hearts

Ryan won the hand by spiking the Queen of Diamonds on the turn (the board ended up 6 of Spades 4 of Hearts 3 of Spades Queen of Diamonds 8 of Spades) and McKenzie was crippled down to 70K – just 3BB.

On the second hand following this loss, he got it in with Jack of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds and Vincent Jacques called with 9 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds. McKenzie doubled to 128K on the board of King of Spades Jack of Hearts Queen of Hearts Jack of Clubs Ace of Spades. He was still in critical condition, but a little more healthy than before.

A few more hands passed that included McKenzie folding to raised pots or going all-in and picking up blinds and antes, until his ultimate hand.

Justin Miller raised to 50K and François Goulet called the 50K. Immediately to François’ left, McKenzie shoved (165K). Justin flat called the 165K and then François re-raised and got the quick fold from Justin. The pot was now heads up with McKenzie all in for his tournament life.

François: 8 of Clubs 8 of Spades
McKenzie: Ace of Spades 10 of Spades.

This time the board was no help to McKenzie as the King of Hearts 4 of Clubs 7 of Clubs 4 of Hearts 6 of Spades gave François 2 pairs and sent McKenzie to the rail.

14th place: McKenzie James Liebzit, $21,920

  • Chip Average: 1.2M

  • Amir Babakhani fell rather short stacked in the last few levels, and on the first hand back from break, he moved his last 175K in with 5 of Hearts 5 of Clubs from early position. Rayan Chamas called from middle position, holding King of Hearts Jack of Diamonds, and everyone else folded.

Rayan spiked a king on the 8 of Spades King of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs board, and former WPT Canadian Spring Championship winner Amir Babakhani was sent to the cashiers to collect his $21,920 paycheck.

    Marcello Delgrasso

    17th: Jeremie Bilodeau

Jeremie Bilodeau started today as one of the chip leaders but had dropped down in the past few levels. He still had around 665K when he lost his final pot defending his big blind from aggression by Vincent Jacques. We missed the action but by the time the chips got in the middle, Vincent had trips with a ten in his hand and two on board.

  • Micah Johnson was just one card away from doubling up, but Rayan Chamas hit a 2-outer to eliminate him in 18th place. Rayan opened the action to 35K with his pair of 9 of Clubs 9 of Hearts, and was faced with a 3bet from Micah to 83K. Rayan moved all-in, and Micah made the quick call with Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs.

The board seemed good for Micah, until the river hit, and Rayan’s full house on the Jack of Spades Ace of Hearts Jack of Clubs Queen of Hearts 9 of Diamonds board propelled him even more into the chip lead by adding Micah’s 410K stack to his own. Rayan now hold over 3.1M.

    18th place: Micah Johnson, $18,810

Marc-André Ladouceur has been eliminated by James Armstrong in 19th place. Marc-André 3-bet-shoved his remaining stack (around 300K) over James’ opening raise and when it folded around to James, he quickly called.
