After losing 100K to Nizar, who had just doubled his 54K against Félix Miron, Azizul Haque suffered a badbeat when his Ace of Spades King of Clubs lost to Cadillac, who was holding Ace of Hearts 6 of Clubs. Cadillac, who had lost a good chunk of chips earlier, 3-bet Haque all-in and found a 6 of Diamonds on the turn.

Our poorest finalists are now Luc Théberge (about 55K) and Azizul Haque (about 70K), who entered the money as the chip leader. Everyone else has over 100K.

Jacques Bigonesse leaves in 8th

With 2K/4K/a4K blinds, Jacques Bigonesse, who was our shortest stack, was looking for a spot. When everybody folded to his small blind, he picked up a suited queen, and took a chance. He pushed his 30K forward, which were instantly called by Michel Abud on his left.

Jacques Bigonesse: Queen of Hearts 3 of Hearts
Michel Abud: 8 of Diamonds 8 of Spades

Board: 4 of Diamonds Jack of Clubs 7 of Clubs Jack of Diamonds Ace of Hearts

The board did not help, and Bigonesse left in 8th. He took a $150 coupon and a handful of Bounties to the cashier.

Well done!

Jacques Bigonesse

After just 12 20-minute levels of play, Event 1 in the February 2018 Power Weekend is in the money. Michel Gaudette was the first to leave the final, and after a few hands, Dwayne Mattice left on the bubble, sending the Event into the money.

Our survivors just took a short break, during which we took down their counts:

James Chauvin, after flopping trips, was victimized by an unfortunate run out. Chips came to the pot gradually, possibly a result of Chauvin slow playing his monster flop. Nevertheless, Azizul Haque ended up with a winning straight, and was all-in when we got to the table. Chauvin called after some deliberation.

James Chauvin: King of Clubs 9 of Clubs

Board: 8 of Clubs 9 of Hearts 9 of Spades 7 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds

Immediately after, on the other table, Armand Leblanc was losing the rest of his chips. He walked away in 11th, and the final table was decided.

Only 20 players were left, and one of the table was in the process of breaking, when Éric Lacombe busted. A player raised to 4K, and Lacombe 3bet to 16K. Lacombe was more than happy to hear the all-in, and called instantly.

He was holding Ace of Clubs Ace of Hearts, and was facing 7 of Clubs 7 of Spades.

The board came with a sour surprise for Lacombe: 9 of Hearts 3 of Diamonds 6 of Hearts 10 of Spades 8 of Clubs!

Unfortunate, but common. Lacombe took a picture of the disaster, and walked away in good spirits.

Our current top 3 are very close to each other. No single player has distanced the field, as is often the case in these 20-minute level tournaments.

Azizul Haque (66,500) is ahead, followed closely by Luc Théberge (61,500). Théberge was in second place after 4 levels, and did a great job at keeping his spot. Félix Miron (4th) also showed consistency (3rd position at the 1st break).
