Étienne Lanteigne walks

Étienne Lanteigne is our first final table casualty. Here is the chip travel story that led to his elimination:

Danick Landriault took more than half of Mathieu Daigneault’s stack after a great check on the turn and a nice value bet on the river, disguising his flopped ace. Daigneault then shoved his 72K from an early position, and managed to double those up on Étienne Lanteigne, who looked him up from the big blind with Ace of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds. Daigneault’s King of Clubs 10 of Clubs pulled through, completing a flush on the river and crippling Lanteigne.

This is how Laiteigne was left with just 28K which went in after Landriault raised to 22K and Michael Mannucci called. Of course, both players completed the all-in bet, and they went to the flop 3-way. Daigneault contested Mannucci’s flop bet, but released on the turn, letting him go to showdown:

Michael Manucci: Ace of Clubs 9 of Clubs
Étienne Lanteigne: King of Spades 10 of Clubs

Board: Ace of Hearts Queen of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 7 of Spades

Our 10 finalists are now on break, which allowed us to add chip counts to the seating chart. Danick Landriault and Azizul Haque are tied for 1st, with 244K. Haque is on his 2nd consecutive final table – he finished 3rd in yesterday’s Bounty tournament. We wish him good luck!

The Event is now confined to 2 tables, and they are shrinking fast, producing many confrontations as the blinds increase and the short stacks sustain growing pressure.

Marc Lacroix cracked the 100K mark when he called Trevor Clark’s pre-flop open-shove, busting him out.

Trevor Clarke: 5 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds
Marc Lacroix: Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades

Board: 10 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 7 of Spades King of Clubs 9 of Clubs

Maurice Simard, on the other table, survived when his own small pair dodged the over cards. Pocket sixes even boated up on the river, letting their owner survive the battle.

On the very last hand before the break, Cole Cross-Lusignan took down Ghislain Pigeon’s castle, claiming the driver’s seat in the process.

Pigeon limped in for 2.4K, Azizul Haque tagged along, and Cole made it 10K to go. Both players called. Cole, being in the blinds, was first to act post-flop, and fired 15K. Only Pigeon called. On the turn, another 20k was bet and called. Cole, without any fear, went all-in on the river into the only player who covered him. That bet alone was 63K; Pigeon announced the call, took a look at Cole’s top pair, and mucked.

Board: Queen of Spades 6 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs 4 of Spades 10 of Diamonds

A huge pot of 226,500 chips was pushed to Cole Cross-Lusignan. He spent a few minutes to stack his army, and went on break.

Although he is now the chip leader, Mathieu Daigneault is not too far behind, having done extremely well himself. Here is the updated leaderboard, made up of all 6-figure stacks:
