Event #5 Champion: Vincent Trevisonno

2018/02/26 - 20:37 by Shawn McCrory

Vincent Trevisonno has just been crowned champion of the 8-Max Freeze, the fifth event in this edition of Playground’s Power Weekend.

Trevisonno held the chip lead throughout most of the tournament. Upon reaching the final table, he had the chips and the patience to sit back and pick his spots carefully. This strategy paid dividends as the players were eliminated one after the other until only three remained.

When it came down to the final three players, Trevisonno, Alexandre Lauziere and Isham Yamani opted to make a deal. The ICM chop they agreed to gave Trevisonno the largest share of the prize pool, paying him $1,150.00. Lauziere took $867.00 and Yamani pocketed $1,000.00 before leaving the table to claim his place on the final table of the Playground 200. This left Trevisonno and Lauziere playing heads up for the remaining $100.00 with a dead stack on the table.

At first they took turns collecting the dead money, each folding in turn. After Yamani’s stack had been reduced to only a handful of blinds, Lauziere and Trevisonno traded the chip lead back and forth with a series of all ins, with the smaller stack winning each time. Eventually, Trevisonno was able to win back-to-back hands and claim victory. Congratulations!

Event #5 Champion: Vincent Trevisonno – $1,250.00

Runner-up: Alexandre Lauziere – $867.00

Steven Taylor has just been eliminated in fourth place.

Taylor had lost most of his stack on the previous hand when his Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts lost to Isham Yamani’s 6 of Spades 7 of Spades. The two were all in before the flop and it looked good for Taylor until the river. The flop, Ace of Clubs Queen of Clubs 9 of Clubs, put Taylor comfortably ahead, but his lead shrank on the 8 of Diamonds turn and was gone with the 5 of Diamonds river.

Taylor was all in for less than one big blind on the next hand and came up short. As the first to act, Taylor moved all in, Yamani called and the big blind, Alexandre Lauziere checked. Lauziere and Yamani checked all the way down, and, by the river, both had made the same pair, which was enough to send Taylor packing.

Taylor will collect $400.00 for his fourth place finish.

Yamani victorious in another battle of the blinds, Chanthamynavong out in 5th

  • Level: 17
  • Small Blind: 6K
  • Big Blind: 12K
  • Button Ante: 6K
  • Chip Average: 255K
  • Remaining: 4
  • Entries: 68

The final table was down to five players, and it took a battle of the blinds to send the next player to the rail. With the blinds at 6K/12K, the action folded to Marc Chanthamynavong in the small blind who moved all in with Ace of Hearts 3s. Isham Yamani, in the big blind, decided to take his chances and made the call with Jack of Clubs 9 of Diamonds.

Chanthamynavong liked his spot but was disappointed with the runout. It was a safe flop, 4 of Clubs 2 of Clubs 2 of Hearts, but Yamani picked up more outs on the Queen of Clubs turn and go there with the 5 of Clubs on the river.

Chanthamynavong will collect $310.00 for his fifth place finish.

Duncan eliminated in 6th

  • Level: 17
  • Small Blind: 6K
  • Big Blind: 12K
  • Button Ante: 6K
  • Chip Average: 204K
  • Remaining: 5
  • Entries: 68

Glen Duncan was the next player to leave the table, after he lost a battle of the blinds.

With the blinds at 6K/12K, the action has folded to Isham Yamani in the small blind. Yamani, trying to steal the big blind, moved all in. Duncan spent a moment in the tank but eventually made the call and hands were tabled.

Duncan: 6 of Hearts 6 of Spades

Yamani: 3 of Diamonds 4 of Spades

It looked like a great spot for Duncan to double up, but his hopes were dashed when Yamani flopped the nuts. Despite a thin re-draw, the board provided no help with 2 of Hearts Ace of Hearts 5 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs King of Hearts, and Duncan left to collect his $240.00 ticket.

Mannucci out in 7th

  • Level: 16
  • Small Blind: 5K
  • Big Blind: 10K
  • Button Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 170K
  • Remaining: 6
  • Entries: 68

2018/02/26 - 18:10 by Shawn McCrory

Michael Mannucci has just been eliminated in seventh place. He lost most of his chips to Glen Duncan, when the two got it all in pre-flop and Manucci had Duncan dominated. With the blinds at 4K/8K, both players were relatively short so their all-ins were fairly standard. Duncan’s King of Diamonds 10 of Spades out flopped Mannucci’s Ace of Spades 10 of Spades when the King of Hearts appeared on the flop. The runout, King of Hearts Queen of Spades 8 of Hearts 6 of Clubs 2 of Spades, didn’t help Mannucci catch up and he was reduced to one big blind.

Following the hand against Duncan, Mannucci held on for a few more hands before being all in with his next big blind. To his dismay, he found himself on the wrong side of a dominating hand when his Jack of Clubs 7 of Hearts lost to Alexandre Lauziere’s Ace of Diamonds Jack of Spades.

Mannucci will take home $210.00 for his seventh place finish.

Bourque busts 8th

  • Level: 16
  • Small Blind: 5K
  • Big Blind: 10K
  • Button Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 170K
  • Remaining: 6
  • Entries: 68

Remi Bourque has just been eliminated in eighth place. Steven Taylor sent him to the rail in their second clash at the final table. Earlier on, Bourque doubled up Taylor when Bourque opened the betting with Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades only to run into Taylor’s Ace of Hearts Ace of Diamonds. The two got it all in before the flop and Taylor’s aces stood, crippling Bourque’s stack.

Taylor finished Bourque off not long after when he opened the betting from the cut-off with 7 of Spades 7 of Hearts, and Bourque moved all in from the small blind with Ace of Spades 9 of Spades. The board, 7 of Diamonds 6 of Hearts 4 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds Ace of Diamonds, did not provide much of a sweat for Bourque, who left to collect his $180.00.

Play continues on the final table.
