Play has resumed following he final break if today’s flight. The field is down to 62 players, less than a third of the total entries. Even though the players are quite deep at this stage, the chips were flying throughout the last two levels, as players hit the rail one after the other. If the first two flights are an indicator then play will likely tighten up for the next two levels before the action goes crazy again in the final level of the day.

Two players, David Bonneau and Shawn S, stand well above the field with stacks that are more than triple the current average.

Here are the current chip leaders:

Play continues in level 10 of Day 1C,the most popular starting flight of the Playground 200 with nearly 5.5 million chips in play. The average stack provides over 60 big blinds so the depth of play offers lots of interesting possibilities. Today’s strong turnout has let some players run up some huge stacks, with many players sitting on well over 100 big blinds, and those chips are being put to good use to pull out all in the tricks in the book; we’re seeing players running big floats, huge overbets and major bluffs.

Here are a few more photos from the recent levels:

After 8 levels of play in Day 1C of the Playground 200, we found 10 players with 6-figure stacks. The captain of that group is none other than our own Kevin Daily, who proudly sports a brand new sweater picturing a huge king – suit unknown – and a Playground hat.

Kevin is a regular at Playground Poker Club and is a real class act. We wish all the best for the rest of his adventure!

Here is the top 10:

Registration in Day 1C, the last starting flight of the Playground 200, is now closed. 182 players took part, with 36 re-entries, for a total of 218 entries. Here is the breakdown:

  • Online Day 1 – 59 entries, 4 re-entries
  • Day 1A – 125 entries, 19 re-entries
  • Day 1B – 141 entries, 41 re-entries
  • Day 1C – 182 entries, 36 re-entries

All flights combined, we registered a total of 607 entries for the Playground 200, which is nothing short of a great success! So far, 85 players have sent bags to tomorrow’s Day 2, and with today’s qualifiers, that number should boost to over 120. Day 2 starts tomorrow at 12pm sharp, and we will be there to bring you live updates along the way. Don’t miss it!

The tournament staff is currently working on the payout table, and as soon they are done, we will publish it here.

Rami Hammoud runs it up

  • Level: 7
  • Small Blind: 250
  • Big Blind: 500
  • Button Ante: 500
  • Chip Average: 37.2K
  • Remaining: 146
  • Entries: 218

When we got to the table, the turn was out, and Jimmy Ouellet had check-raised from 6.5K to 16.5K. Rami Hammoud announced all-in rather quickly, and Ouellet called.

Hammoud: King of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds
Ouellet: Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds

Board: 10 of Spades Ace of Diamonds Queen of Clubs 2 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs

What a flop! Both players were hit hard, but ouellet was trailing with only 4 outs to sway the result, which did not come. Hammoud came into Day 1C rather late, but is now in a good spot to play for a long time.

Chance, sometimes, masquerades as organisation. One table 65, you can find a handful of very solid players.

Linda Huard is a local player that has had some very good results in past Playground Poker Events. Jonathan Poissant is well know on the cash side for his clockwork demeanor and puffy stacks,  but he also has some deep tournament runs under his belt. David Brillon and Shijaudin Daud Sha are two lions who become extremely dangerous when given some chips.

Last but not least, in seat 1, sits Eric Afriat, winner of the $ 3,500 No Limit Hold’em Championship at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown in April of 2014. Last month, he also took down the $ 3,300 + 200 No Limit Hold’em WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship in Atlantic City. He ranks 34th on the Canadian all-time money list.

Good luck to our shark table, and may you be broken soon!
