Play has just finished on Day 1C of the Playground 200. Today was the final starting flight for this event, and it drew a great turnout with 218 total entries. The large field put a huge number of chips in play so there are several huge stacks that will move to tomorrow’s Day 2. By the end of level 14, 42 players remained to bag chips.
Given this tournament’s format – extended late registration as well as unlimited re-entries – the early levels were reminiscent of the previous Day 1s with loose and aggressive play. But in contrast to the other Day 1s, the action seemed to simmer down as the day went on. By the time we had reached level 14, most players were simply counting their stacks and waiting to get them in the bag.
The dramatic development of the late levels was the clash between the two big stacks at the final break, Shawn S and David Bonneau. When the dust settled, Shawn S emerged victorious with over half a million chips, giving him an huge chip lead over the field.
