Moreau rushes to the finish line

    2018/03/24 - 3:12 by Jôle Simard

Day 1B attracted 222 entries, substantially more than last night’s flight. The last starting flight for this edition of the Playground 200 starts at 11:00am tomorrow morning, and the guarantee will be met when the first card is pitched.

Tonight, the Day 2 field was doubled. Its chips leader is still Jerry Joseph Jaber, surprisingly. Bigger fields usually produce bigger bags, but tonight was different. Chips were volatile, and many leaders had to step down from their position, instead of reinforcing it.

It was the case for Mingzhe Zhang and Martin Gélinas, who were both on their way to send commanding stacks to Day 2, but had to settle for a wobbly qualification.

Richard Moreau, who picked up some crazy speed in the last few levels, finished on top of Day 1B’s final standings, with 271,000 chips. George Ciucuireanu is not too far behind, with 264,500 chips. They rank 3rd and 4th on the Day 2 qualifiers’ list, which will be updated shortly. 47 names will be added to the list, which is now 95-name deep. Sunday will definitely be fun day!

The Playground 200 rolls on tomorrow with Day 1C.

Cristian Radita and Pierre-Luc Bourgeois had a pre-flop all-in clash, again. Bourgeois tried to knock him out at least two occasions, but couldn’t get it done. Here is the latest try:

Pierre-Luc Bourgeois: King of Spades 10 of Clubs
Cristian Radita: Ace of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Board: Ace of Spades 3 of Spades Jack of Spades 7 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds

Bourgeois was not going to try again, because he was taken out by Chen Turjeman a few hands later.

Raphael Bernard, all-in and at risk with an over pair, was on his way to the showers. Azizul Haque had flopped a set and was looking to hold and catch the average.

Haque: 5 of Spades 5 of Clubs

Board: 6 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts 7 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

When Michele Oriente went all-in on the turn, Éric Després elected to make the call. When he saw Oriente’s hole cards, he regretted it instantly, but lady luck had something special lined up for him.

Michele Oriente: 8 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds
Éric Després: 10 of Hearts 8 of Hearts

Board: 5 of Diamonds 8 of Spades 7 of Hearts Jack of Diamonds 9 of Clubs

The river came flooding the board, and Oriente walked away, unsteady.
