  • Johnny Mazzaferro won a $1.1K event in the 2013 Playground Poker Spring Classic but fell just short of winning an event at the same buy-in this year. Still, his 4th place was worth more in cash than his win last year – this was a Main Event with three starting days and a million dollar guaranteed prize pool!

It took a few hands to eliminate Johnny, and it all got started when his weak Ace couldn’t outflop Jason’s pocket Tens, and ended with another $59,762.00 in his poker bankroll.

  • Action on the final table hasn’t been characterized by bustouts or huge double-ups but that’s not to say that it has been static or slow – chips have been moving around very fluidly throughout the day.

In that context Alexander got it in on the flop which had appeared King of Clubs 5 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds but was instantly called by Daniel Gagne who held King of Spades 8 of Clubs for top two pairs.

    5th place: Alexander Wong, $44,586.00

  • Mario Lim had a tough start to the day as we wrote earlier, and although he fought hard to rebuild his stack and had some success at doing so, eventually he ran out of luck.

In his elimination hand, Mario open shoved and it folded around to Johnny Mazzaferro who didn’t seem thrilled but made the call anyhow.

Mario: King of Clubs 3 of Clubs
Johnny: Ace of Hearts Jack of Spades

The flop brought a sweat for Johnny – 9 of Clubs 9 of Spades 2 of Clubs but the turn and river – 10 of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds bricked and Mario was eliminated.

    6th place: Mario Lim, $36,108.00

  • Mario Lim started the day with a healthy stack but has taken a beating in two hands and is now the short stack at the table.

In one hand he doubled up Jason Comtois when his flush draw couldn’t drop to beat Jason’s pocket Queens. Just a few hands later he then doubled John Paul Tabago who shoved King of Hearts 4 of Clubs and hit a 4 on the flop to make the best hand.

    Event 9: Results & Payouts

    Event 9 was a $165 + $15 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max tournament that had 189 total entries and generated a prize pool of $27,499.00.

The following payout table reflects this player-initiated deal. Note that after the deal was made play continued, so it is normal that the player in 3rd place, for instance, received less money than the player in 6th place. This ranking is based on the order the players were eliminated from the tournament.
