  • Marco Caza has been eliminated in 10th place after a long spell of very careful play on the final table of 10 players.

Jason Comtois opened the action with a raise preflop to 280K. Daniel Gagne re-raised to 530K and then Marco 4-bet shoved his under-average (but not short) stack. Jason folded and Daniel called.

Marco: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts
Daniel: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs

Marco was dominated and the board offered no help: Jack of Hearts 9 of Clubs 4 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs.

    More 6-Max!

If it’s Monday it must be a 6-Max! And since the Spring Classic spans two Mondays in a row, that means we have two 6-Max tourneys in the schedule. Well… also the fact that the shorthanded format is extremely popular at Playground.

Tonight’s event is a $150 + $15 event and should attract a full house. Photos and more to come later this evening.

    11th place: Rodney Lawrence

  • Level: 30
  • Small Blind: 50K
  • Big Blind: 100K
  • Ante: 15K
  • Chip Average: 3.2M
  • Remaining: 10
  • Entries: 1079

  • Rodney Lawrence has been eliminated in 11th place, meaning that the final table of 10 players has come together. Play will continue tonight until there are 6 players remaining – the official Final Table in WPT events.

Pierre Guenette is the player who eliminated Rodney although many had tried earlier today as Rodney spent most of the day playing with a very short stack. We missed the preflop action but on the flop of 8 of Clubs 6 of Clubs 2 of Spades Rodney bet just over 200K and Pierre flat called. The turn came the Queen of Diamonds and Rodney again led out – for 375K this time. Pierre immediately announced he was all-in and Rodney called very quickly.

Rodney: King of Spades Queen of Clubs
Pierre: 6 of Hearts 6 of Spades

The 7 of Diamonds changed nothing and Pierre’s middle set was good. He covered Rodney, who was eliminated from the event.

    Chips are flying

  • Level: 29
  • Small Blind: 40K
  • Big Blind: 80K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.5M
  • Remaining: 13
  • Entries: 1079

  • There haven’t been any eliminations since the last break (through half of level 29) but that’s not to say that there hasn’t been any action! The chips are flying around the final two tables. Matthew Brunskole lost two relatively small pots in a row, leaving him short – but then tripled up after getting it in with pocket tens a few hands later. Ami Alibay had also been getting relatively short until he doubled through Alexander Wong just a few minutes ago to go to about 2.6M in chips.

    Play continues…

    15th place: Simon Quintal

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 2.3M
  • Remaining: 13
  • Entries: 1079

  • Simon Quintal has been flying under the radar for most of the later stages of the tournament, never the chip leader but never short-stacked either.

That changed after Rodney Lawrence raised all-in from middle position and Simon called from the button.

Rodney: Ace of Clubs 10 of Clubs
Simon: 8 of Spades 8 of Hearts

The flop came Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs 3 of Clubs to put Rodney well in the lead. The board ran out 9 of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds and kept him there – he doubled to over 1.2M in chips on the hand.

With just around 200K left in chips, Simon found a way to fold for a few hands before getting it in UTG holding King of Diamonds 10 of Hearts. It folded back to the Big Blind (Brent Wheeler) who called.

Simon: King of Diamonds 10 of Hearts
Brent: Ace of Hearts 8 of Diamonds

The board came: 6 of Hearts Ace of Hearts 8 of Diamonds 4 of Spades 5 of Diamonds and Simon was eliminated.

  • There is a full seating redraw at 18 players remaining. Since 2 players busted almost simultaneously, there were just 17 players in the tournament when this redraw was done.

  • For the past half level or so David Lanthier has been on a roller coaster ride but the ride is over as David has been eliminated by Johnny Mazzaferro in 22nd place.

David kicked off the action with an open shove of his 870K stack. Johnny threw in a chip to make the call and the blinds both folded.

David: Ace of Spades Queen of Spades
Johnny: 9 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs

Johnny’s nines held up on a board of Jack of Diamonds 6 of Clubs 4 of Hearts 7 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds and he has built his stack to over 3.2M chips.

  • Mario Lim has eliminated another player from the final three tables of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship.

Marc Guerbilsky opened the action preflop to 105K from middle position. Mario raised to 450K, and Marc thought for a few moments before going all-in. Mario confirmed with the dealer that Marc had shoved and then snap-called.

Marc: 2 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts
Mario: King of Diamonds King of Spades

The flop: 7 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts 5 of Hearts. The turn brought a heart – but no flush draw, as it was the King of Hearts, giving Mario a full house. The river was the Jack of Diamonds and Marc is out of the tournament.

  • Ruben took most of Andrew’s chips several hands earlier, and on his elimination hand he went all-in with Queen of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds. Maxime Theroux was the other player in the hand and he tabled King of Clubs Queen of Spades. The board ran out 8 of Hearts 5 of Hearts Jack of Clubs 7 of Hearts Jack of Hearts to sent Andrew home early.
