  • Action is fast and furious. We got to the table as Marko was stacking a monster pot – and learned right away that he was stacking two players’ entire stacks.

From what the players told us, Christopher Rassi open shoved UTG and Marko flat called. It folded around to Russel Turner, who went all-in – and Marko called the bet and flipped over pocket AA. Russel held KK and Christopher’s initial shove was made holding KQ (suited).

Two hands later, Alexandros Fixmer shoved on a 3 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts Queen of Hearts flop and Michael D Brown called. Alexandros held :Ace of Clubs 3 of Clubs for bottom pair, and Michael turned over King of Spades 8 of Spades for no pair. The turn fixed that problem the King of Diamonds put him in the lead to stay as the Queen of Diamonds didn’t do anything to help Alexandros’ hand.

  • Christopher Shakell has been eliminated in 9th place after a hand between he and Troy Hamilton.

Chris raised to 385K from middle position, and Troy, 2 seats to his left (cutoff) 3-bet to 925K. Michael Brown tanked for a while in the big blind, but eventually folded so action returned to Chris. After a few moments of thought he quietly said, “All in” – and Troy couldn’t call fast enough.

Chris turned over 5 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts while Troy was way ahead holding King of Spades King of Clubs.

The flop was reasonably safe: 10 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds while the turn of 2 of Diamonds gave Chris some additional outs. Unfortunately for him, the river card was a Queen of Clubs and Troy’s Kings held.

It took a while to count down the stacks because the players started the hand with very similar stack sizes. It turned out that Troy was playing 2.690M chips while Chris had slightly fewer chips – 2.615.

    9th place: Christopher Shakell, $2,040

    Six Max Monday!

Monday night at Playground Poker Club has traditionally been the night for shorthanded tournaments, and during the Fall Classic is no exception. Tonight is Event 5, a $300 + $30 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max tournament that is sure to draw a full house.

This event will be the largest buy-in event in the festival so far, and the field is also likely to be made up of some of the most experienced players in the Montreal area. Pre-tournament buzz suggests that the field will include at least two former WSOP bracelet winners, several online poker heroes, and quite a few travelling pros who have joined us for the Fall Classic.

Best of luck to everyone tonight!
