    Another high roller update

The High Roller tournament has been progressing slowly – as you’d expect from a high-buy-in tournament with an all-star field – but they’re down to 10 players and we have some chip counts. Note that as this is an 8-handed tournament, the final table will start at 9 (not at 10, which is the rule for 9-handed tournaments). In other words, the tournament is on the final table bubble at the moment. The final table bubble is NOT the pay bubble – only 6 players will be paid in this event, so THAT bubble is still a ways off.

First Name Last Name Seat Chip Count
    Patrick Timothy Table 50 – Seat 1 105,000
    Per Martin Jacobson Table 50 – Seat 2 235,000
    Michael Watson Table 50 – Seat 3 120,000
    Govert Jan Antonius Table 50 – Seat 4 185,000
    Pratyush Buddiga Table 50 – Seat 8 264,000
    Amer Sulaiman Table 53 – Seat 1 70,000
    Connor Joseph Drinan Table 53 – Seat 3 205,000
    Gregory Marcus Table 53 – Seat 4 115,000
    Mark Radoja Table 53 – Seat 6 97,000
    Matt Marafioti Table 53 – Seat 8 120,000

    Final Table!

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 4.3M
  • Remaining: 6
  • Entries: 862

  • The final table for the 2013 WPT Montreal is set! Play on the unofficial final table that started 10-handed was very slow as players arrived to the table relatively even in chips, but eventually the action heated up and almost all the way through level 28 the final table of 6 were all that remained.

The final table is scheduled to start at 3pm tomorrow though it is unlikely that cards are in the air before 4pm. The six remaining players will be on a table in the middle of the massive set that’s being built in the Tournament Hall.

There will be a live stream available through lifestream.com and the whole affair is being recorded for television.

The players will start the event in the same seats they were sitting in to end the day – the last redraw was at 10 players remaining. There are just over 8 minutes left in level 28.

Here are the seats and chip counts to start tomorrow:

First Name Last Name Seat Chip Count
    Serge Cantin Seat 1 6,960,000
    Mukul Pahuja Seat 2 5,945,000
    Derrick Rosenbarger Seat 3 1,985,000
    Alexandre Lavigne Seat 4 2,150,000
    Lily Kiletto Seat 5 370,000
    Sylvain Siebert Seat 6 8,435,000

    Mukul takes a big one

  • Level: 28
  • Small Blind: 30K
  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 3.7M
  • Remaining: 7
  • Entries: 862

  • We missed the beginning of the hand – when we arrived the board read 9 of Diamonds 5 of Spades 10 of Clubs Ace of Clubs Jack of Spades and Mukul had made a big bet of 465K. Derrick was deeply in the tank and remained there until Mukul called time. The dealer announced that time had been called and Derrick had 60 seconds in which to act. After just about 20 seconds Derrick called and Mukul flipped over King of Spades Queen of Diamonds for the straight and Derrick just mucked and shipped over the 465K.

After stacking the chips, Mukul was up to just about 6.5M.

    Serge Cantin moving up

  • Level: 27
  • Small Blind: 25K
  • Big Blind: 50K
  • Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 2.6M
  • Remaining: 10
  • Entries: 862

  • Serge Cantin, playing in seat 1, may not have the resume of some of the other players at the table but he’s been steadily chipping up all day from his humble beginnings as one of the shorter stacks to start Day 3.

Just in this past level he has added about 1.5M chips to his stack and has been quite active at the unofficial final table. Just a minute ago he took a chunk off of Amir – after betting 150K on the flop of Jack of Hearts King of Spades 7 of Spades he was raised by Amir to 500K – to which he calmly responded by re-raising to 1.15M… and getting the fold.

Serge is up to over 3M chips.

    Counts at the Break

  • Level: 11
  • Small Blind: 600
  • Big Blind: 1.2K
  • Ante: 200
  • Chip Average: 70K
  • Remaining: 24
  • Entries: 56

  • The High Roller event is on a break and we found the top few stacks while the players were away from the tables.

    1. Govert Jan Antonius – 192K
    2. Amer Sulaiman – 160K
    3. Christian Harder – 130K
    4. Gregory Marcus – 120K

In addition there are several players hovering around the 100K mark.

    High Roller Update

  • Small Blind: 500
  • Big Blind: 1K
  • Ante: 100
  • Chip Average: 67.2K
  • Remaining: 25
  • Entries: 56

  • The High Rollers are rolling right along – in the action so far 5 players have been eliminated and there will be a full redraw after the next player is eliminated.

The players who are out so far today:

    • Alexander Wong
    • Jesse Yaginuma
    • Michael Jones
    • James Calderaro
    • John Gordon

    (Unofficial) Final Table Draw

  • Level: 27
  • Small Blind: 25K
  • Big Blind: 50K
  • Ante: 5K
  • Chip Average: 2.6M
  • Remaining: 10
  • Entries: 862

  • The Final Table of WPT events is 6-handed, but in terms of the operations of the tournament, the players come together on a single table at 10 players remaining, and there is a full seating redraw.

The remaining 10 players will be playing on table 28 in the following seats:

    1. Serge Cantin – 1.4M
    2. Mukul Pahuja – 3.2M
    3. Derrick Rosenbarger – 4.3M
    4. Amir Babakhani – 1.8M
    5. Marco Cannizzaro – 3.4M
    6. Antoine Berube – 2M
    7. Alexandre Lavigne – 2M
    8. Lily Kiletto – 1M
    9. Sylvain Siebert – 4.1M
    10. Ludovic Lacay 2.4M

Players are now on a scheduled break and when they return play will start on the single table that’s left.

    High Rollers start Day 2

  • Level: 9
  • Small Blind: 400
  • Big Blind: 800
  • Ante: 100
  • Chip Average: 56K
  • Remaining: 30
  • Entries: 56

  • The remaining 30 players in the High Roller event have taken their seats and the clock has started in level 9. This is an 8-handed tournament so the 30 players are distributed among 4 tables but there will be full redraws at 24 players, 16 players, and 9 players. The schedule today is to play at least 8 levels.
