Tonight’s tournament is officially called “Event 6 – $300 + $30 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better” but wandering around the room chatting with customers they say they’re playing O8, or Hi-Lo, or Split-Pot Omaha, or Omaha 8, or 8 or better… There are a lot of names for this poker variant, but it’s a favourite of its fans who are just now gathering at Playground to jump into this year’s edition of this fun and challenging event.
Although the tournament tonight won’t break attendance records, the players who love Omaha really love it, and the High/Low style is pretty rare in all but the biggest poker festivals – so the excitement is building.
