The opening formalities are complete and Day 1a of the 2013 WPT Montreal is on! There are currently 158 players seated but there are still a lot of people making their way to Montreal with the intention of late registering today, which will be possible until the end of the break after level 6.

To be more precise, late reg will be available until the end of 6 hour long levels + 2×15 min breaks + 45 min dinner break – so until about 7:15 this evening. Each Day 1 will play 10 hour-long levels.

It’s 11:30am and we’re just 30 minutes away (give or take) from the start of Day 1a of the PartyPoker WPT Montreal and players are arriving, buying their tickets, enjoying a nice breakfast at The Rail, and generally preparing to get started in what should prove to be one of the season’s largest WPT stops.

Surveying Twitter and other social media we find that there are quite a few star players who will be in the field today. Jonathan Roy, last year’s champion, will start today, as will 3rd place finisher Jeff Gross. Some of the other notables expected today: Premier League VII champion Sorel Mizzi, WSOP Main Event Final Tablist Marc-Etienne McLachlan, British online superstar Chris Moorman, and many more.
