A huge hand on Table 39

We just saw the end of a huge hand between Dawn Mootrey and Jeremie Trepanier on table 39.

We caught up to the action on the flop of 8 of Spades 3 of Hearts King of Clubs. Dawn (BB) led out for 190K and was raised by Jeremie (cutoff) to 400K. Dawn didn’t hesitate long before making the call.

The turn came 4 of Clubs and Dawn checked. Jeremie bet 225K and again Dawn called without much hesitation. The river was a 10 of Clubs and again Dawn checked. This time Jeremie went in the tank for a while before betting 425K. Then it was Dawn’s turn to consider her options… and eventually she called.

Jeremie turned over 8 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs for a flopped set and Dawn mucked her cards. Jeremie stacked the more than 2M chips in the pot!

Seat Open!

We already have the first elimination of Day 4. After losing a big hand at the end of Day 3, Francesco Buffone was left with just 45K to start today. Predictably, his chips got in the middle early and his King-high couldn’t survive Terrance Eishens’ Queen of Diamonds Queen of Hearts.

  • 25th place, Francesco Buffone, $6,620

Day 3 Ends with a Bang!

Two players were eliminated at the very end of Day 3, in a hand that was likely the biggest pot of the tournament. Michael Linster opened from mid position to 60K, and was 3-bet by Stacy Levac from the cut-off to 140K. Asadul Islam Shah then 4-bet the hand to 410K from the small blind, and finally Vineet Pahuja came over the top of all of these bets with a 5-bet shove (holding a stack of roughly 2.2M) from the big blind. Michael casually folded his hand, and Stacy and Asadul both called.

Stacy Turned over Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts, and was up against Asadul’s Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades and Vineet’s Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts. The board ran out King of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs  King of Spades  King of Clubs, and Vineet knocked out the two other players with his runner-runner quads.

This pot put Vineet in the chip lead of the tournament going into Day 4, holding an impressive 4.45M in chips, almost 800K more than Eric Despres runner up stack of 3.625K.

Victor Ramdin Eliminated in the Final Minutes of Day 3

Jeff Cote has decided to use his “One Time”, and it couldn’t of have been at a better time. He went all-in with his 255K stack from middle-position, and was called by Kevin Dawe from the small blind. Victor Ramdin then shoved his 660K stack over the top from the big blind, and Kevin called off the extra 400K or so.

Jeff Cote turned over King of Spades Jack of Diamonds, and was up against Kevin’s 9 of Diamonds 9 of Spades and Victor’s Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts. The flop of 7 of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds 10 of Spades gave Jeff an open-ended straight draw, but both of his opponents burned two of his outs each. He still managed to hit his straight though, as the turn came 9 of Hearts , and the river Jack of Clubs secured his triple up. Kevin took down the side pot, and Victor was sent home packing after getting his chips in in what seemed to be an ideal spot at this stage in the tournament.
