Manig Loeser’s Jack of Clubs 8 of Diamonds fell to Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds on the alt table. His elimination brings the Super High Roller to 11 players, just 2 eliminations away from the formation of the final table.

Meanwhile on the feature table, Kevin Hobbs opened to 180K from the button. Joao Paulo Pires thought he could steal those chips, and went all-in with 1.2M from the small blind. Isildur1 got out of the way, but Kevin made a quick call with the goods:

Kevin: 10 of Spades 10 of Hearts
Joao: Jack of Hearts 9 of Diamonds

Board: Jack of Spades Ace of Hearts 9 of Clubs 3 of Spades King of Clubs

Joao was at risk but caught a jack on the flop, allowing him to stick around. His stack is still under average, but much more playable.

When chip leader Darren Elias raised, Marc Macdonnell raised all-in with Queen of Clubs Jack of Clubs, trying to get something going. Sean Winter intercepted with Ace of Clubs Ace of Diamonds, and had Macdonnell drawing dead on the turn.

Meanwhile up on stage, Kevin Hobbs called a bet on the turn with a buried under pair against Niall Farrell’s top boat. The river was cruel:

Hobbs: 2 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds
Farrell: Queen of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Board: Jack of Diamonds 8 of Hearts Queen of Spades Queen of Hearts 2 of Spades

A dream river for Farrell, who led the action with a pot-size 525K bet. Hobbs raised to 1.2M, which sent Farrell to the tank. He was trying to find the right raising amount. He finally made it 2.2M, the minimum. Hobbs called Farrell picked up a nice profit.

With Toby Lewis’ quick elimination, partypoker pro Joao Paulo Pires was moved on the stage to even out the tables. David Ormsby followed not long after. He was quite short at the start of the day, and his King of Diamonds Jack of Spades bumped into Kevin Hobbs’ Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs. Day 2 now counts 13 players.

You can follow the action here on the Event blog or on the live stream.

Please note that the Main Event starts today, and the Open continues with Day 3 and the crowning of the Champion. All of that action is captured and reported here.

Today at 12:00pm, 15 experienced and exceptionally talented poker players will gather at Tables 39 and 40 in the Tournament Hall here at Playground Poker Club for the Day 2 restart in Event #3 in the MILLIONS North America – the $25,000 + $500 Super High Roller event. Play will resume in level 13 with blinds at 35K/70K and a 70K button ante and will continue throughout the day until a champion emerges to claim the $373,000 top prize.

The chip leader to start play on Day 2 is Darren Elias, who starts with 8,815,000 (126bb) – an exceptionally deep stack in a tournament whose average stack is currently 45bb. That’s not to say Elias is unopposed, however – every player in the field has a ton of skill, and the player in 2nd – Viktor Blom – has the right mix of skills and a deep stack to be disruptive to anyone’s quest for a win.

On the other end of the spectrum, two players will begin with short stacks – Toby Lewis begins with 13bb and David Ormsby with 12bb – we’ll learn relatively quickly whether either or both will be able to pick up enough chips early to make a deeper run in the event.

There will be a live stream of the remainder of the tournament that will get underway just after the action begins today, and accounting for the 30 minute security delay, the stream should begin at around 12:45pm. Visit My partypoker Live or stay right here on the Playground MILLIONS Event Blog to access the stream.

Cards are in the air at noon – good luck to all of the remaining players.

Instead of playing the last 15 minutes, it was decided that the rest of level 12 would be saved for tomorrow. Play resumes at 12h00 on 2 tables, with Darren Elias (8,815,000) and Victor ”Isildur1” Blom (6,755,000) leading the pack. These two players have been there before. Both are very aggressive when given the chance to play a commanding stack, and will surely create some sparks.

Follow the action right here on our Event Blog! Full counts and tomorrow’s seating chart will be posted here within the hour.
