The Turbo hasn’t even been running for an hour yet, but players are already building some big pots. Ami Alibay got very unlucky on his first hand of the day, played against Matthew Wilkins. We didn’t really see what the action was before the last community card came out.

Board: Jack of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs Queen of Diamonds Jack of Spades

On the river, Wilkins pushes all-in and Alibay, with a boat, has no other choice but to call.

Alibay: Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts

Unfortunately for him, the river gave Wilkins a higher full house!

Alibay decided to give it another try by re-entering the Turbo.

The tournament has started less than 30 minutes ago and the screen is already showing 200 entries including 5 re-entries and it keeps going up. Late registration and re-entries are permitted until the end of the break following level 10.

Welcome to Day 1B of the MILLIONS Turbo

    2018/05/01 - 11:02 by

Today is the second of two starting days in Event #5 in the MILLIONS North America – the MILLIONS Turbo. As is the case with all MILLIONS events, players start with 1,000,000 tournament chips, but in the Turbo, blind levels are just 30 minutes long. This means that the tournament will play through 18 levels on Day 1, and it also adds up to an extended late-registration period – you can enter or re-enter the event until the end of the break following level 10.

Yesterday there were 387 entries in the event, a number we expect will take a significant jump today, as usual for a multi-starting-day event at Playground. Remember that even if you played and booked a stack to Day 2 yesterday, you are permitted to take another shot today – the tournament is best-stack forward to Day 2. Any additional stacks that are not used will simply be removed from the tournament as players continue with their larger stack.

Players who wish to gamble a little – or a lot – will also be happy to know that there will be $110 Flip n’ Go and $110 + $10 Sit ‘n Go tournaments running throughout the late registration period! You can play your way in for no more than you’d pay to join a regular daily tourney!

The excitement builds at a flip’n go

Good luck to everyone today! Action gets underway at the stroke of Noon in the Tournament Tent.

    Chips in the bag

    2018/04/30 - 21:32 by Playground Poker

The first starting flight of the MILLIONS Turbo, Day 1A, lived up to its title with fast-paced action from beginning to end. By the time the late registration and re-entry period ended at the end of level 10, 387 entries made it into the fray today including 88 re-entries.

The action was fast and loose throughout the afternoon. One illustrative example was when two players moved all-in from the first two positions to act before even receiving cards, happy to take their chances to run up a stack. It’s not often that you see two players move all-in before the dealer even finishes shuffling!

After the first break in the action, the gap between the big and small stacks had widened significantly, and the all-ins were happening at a frantic pace. In general, the big stacks benefited, sending a steady flow of players to the rail. Play tightened up later in the day as the stacks got deeper, giving the players more opportunities to grind it out.

When it was time to bag chips at the end of the day, Griffin Benger emerged as the chip leader with a little more than 20M in chips ready for Day 2. While he had maintained a healthy stack for most of the day, he managed to get a huge double-up through Ryan Yu in level 17 to jump to the top of the leader board. In all, 56 players survived this flight and will return for Day 2 on Wednesday at noon.

Day 1B begins tomorrow at noon, and it is likely to be even more popular than today’s starting flight. There will be sit’n go’s and flip’n go’s running throughout the day, and the late registration and re-entry period will be open until the end of level 10, providing lots of avenues and opportunities to get in on the action.

    Huge double up for Benger

    • Small Blind: 70K

    • Button Ante: 140K
    • Chip Average: 6.8M
    • Remaining: 57
    • Entries: 387

    2018/04/30 - 21:04 by Playground Poker

Griffin Benger just got a huge double up through Ryan Yu in the final level of play on Day 1A.

The board read 9 of Clubs King of Diamonds 8 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds when Yu checked the turn to Benger, who fired a big bet of 1.2M. Yu quickly made the call, and the two players watched the King of Clubs fall on the river. Yu checked once again, and Benger moved all-in for 6.3M. After a few moments in the tank, a frustrated Yu slammed a stack of chips on the felt and Benger rolled over Ace of Clubs 5 of Clubs. The nut flush was good, letting Benger collect a pot of over 20M in chips. He will likely emerge as the chip leader at the end of the day.
