    Philippe D’Auteuil bags the lead

    2018/04/30 - 22:18 by Jôle Simard

Without any surprise, Philippe D’Auteuil, after leading the MILLIONS Finale throughout the whole day, bagged the biggest stack onto Day 2. He put away 5,412,000 chips, and his closest competitor is Zachary Donovan who finished the day with 4,515,000.

It was a very strong field that got together for the last big-buy-in event of the MILLIONS North America. World Champions, WPT winners and sponsored pros were doing their thing, playing casually and being friendly with each other.

This being said, players in that league know very well that being friendly doesn’t mean being weak. Ruthless play was to be seen, and Philippe ”takechip” D’Auteuil was the most ruthless of them all.

Play resumes tomorrow at 1:00pm and will play 4 more levels of unlimited re-entry before registration closes for good. A full list of Day 2 qualifiers will be published soon. For now, let’s take a peek at the last 2 levels of the Main Event’s Day 3…

Roberto Romanello raised to 35K and was re-raised to 92K by Jake Daniels. He mad the call. Romanello then check called 63K on the flop, and again 217K on the turn. The river was checked by both.

Board: 3 of Diamonds Queen of Clubs 3 of Spades 5 of Diamonds 9 of Spades

Romanello showed the Ace of Clubs 9 of Clubs, which had quite an effect on Daniels. He grabbed his head in his hand and shook it in disbelief, giving the partypoker pro a pretty good idea of how thin he was drawing.

Afetr Hu Qi made it 30K to go, Mark Radoja went all-in for him remaining 350K. Jonathan Duhamel called the bet, and Qi folded.

Duhamel: Jack of Spades Jack of Hearts
Radoja: Ace of Spades Jack of Clubs

As the dealer positioned the all-in hands for the showdown, Radoja inquired, smiling, if Qi had folded an ace. Qi said no, and that side of the table shared a casual laugh. Radoja had a sip of red wine, and was very relaxed as the community cards were being revealed. Why worry, when unlimited re-entries are permitted?

Board: Ace of Diamonds 6 of Hearts King of Spades 10 of Spades 8 of Clubs

Radoja doubles up to almost a million.

Matas Cimbolas, a Lithuanian pro with over 1.5M in live earnings, opened the pot to 25K. After former World Champion Martin Jacobson called, partypoker pro Joao Simao from Brazil raised it to 100K. Cimbolas gave Simao a look, and both players smiled. Was it reminiscence of a similar hand that happened earlier, or just two people trying to size each other up?

Cimbolas 4bet to 250K. Jacobson got out of the way, and Simao completed the bet.

Flop: Queen of Spades 3 of Clubs 2 of Hearts

Cimbolas bet 150K, and Simao called. On the Queen of Hearts turn, Cimbolas passed the action to his opponent, who bet out 225K. Cimbolas called, and both players checked the  King of Hearts river.

Cimbolas tabled his hand: Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades

    Simao mucked his cards.
