They keep on joining…
As expected, players are joining the High Roller event in a pretty steady stream. It’s still in level 1 and another 7 players have arrived and the event is up to 20 and still growing.
High Rollers!
The $10,000 + $400 High Roller event is now underway! There are just 14 players in the event at the moment but that number is definitely going to grow as late registration is open for a full 6 hours today. Based on past experience, we’re likely to have at least 30 players total (if not more), so it should be a nice event.

Stacks on steroids
After the last break in the 6-Max we noted very few large stacks and a large proportion of very short stacks left in the event. As that would suggest, the tide was about to turn and those small stacks were going to be folded into (or become in their own right) big stacks. And so it went – as of the last break, there were just 39 players remaining and there were several players with very large counts.

3rd place: Andrej Bachynsky
We missed the beginning, but a huge hand was just played that spelled the end of Event 1 for Andrej Bachynsky and gave Jessie Wheatley a commanding lead going to heads up play.
The board read
with a minimum (-ish) pot in the middle between Jessie in the BB and Andrej on the button. The turn came
and Jessie checked, which was met with a quick shove from Andrej – and Jessie snap-called, flipping over
for the turned trips, while Andrej could only respond with
. The river was the
and that was the end of Andrej’s tournament.
It was somewhat unlucky for Andrej because he played very well throughout the final day of action, driving the action most of the way and being one of the only players to make significant gains.
3rd place: Andrej Bachynsky, $16,260
Update from the 6-Max
Players have just finished their second break of the evening and play has commenced in level 10. During the break we did a quick survey to find the leaders at the moment and found two big leaders and a few others with about double the average – and a whole lot of short stacks hanging around.
