8th place: Angelo Simard

  • Level: 31
  • Small Blind: 60K
  • Big Blind: 120K
  • Ante: 20K
  • Chip Average: 4.2M
  • Remaining: 7
  • Entries: 1439

  • Angelo Simard has been eliminated in 8th place by Andrej Bachynsky. Angelo opened the action with a UTG shove for his 2.4M (approx) stack. It folded around to Andrej who snap called, and folded around the rest of the way.
Angelo: Ace of Spades 8 of Spades
Andrej: Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds

The result was pretty clear from the flop of King of Spades 3 of Hearts 10 of Hearts and although the Queen of Diamonds provided a little sweat, the 10 of Clubs sealed the deal and Andrej picked up all of Angelo’s chips.

    8th place: Angelo Simard, $3,520

    9th place: Arjade Gregorio

  • Level: 31
  • Small Blind: 60K
  • Big Blind: 120K
  • Ante: 20K
  • Chip Average: 3.6M
  • Remaining: 8
  • Entries: 1439

  • Arjade Gregorio has been eliminated in 9th place.

Andrej Bachynsky opened the action with a raise to 320K, and Arjade, to his immediate left, raised All In. Jessie Wheatley, the massive chip leader, asked for a count and we learned that Arjade was all in for 935K total. She folded (somewhat reluctantly) and Andrej didn’t think at all before calling the additional 615K.

Andrej: 5 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts
Arjade: Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts

The flop was pretty neutral: 9 of Spades 7 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts but the turn Ace of Clubs was just what Arjade was looking for. Unfortunately for him, the 5 of Clubs on the river gave Andrej the win on the hand and Arjade made the walk to the Tournament Desk to pick up his prize coupon.

    9th place: Arjade Gregorio, $2,600

  • The 6-Max is well underway now and there are already 151 players in the action with late registration continuing for (approx.) another 30 minutes. It’s going to add up to a nice prize pool for the lucky player who can navigate a field full of very experienced amateurs as well as a few pros.

  • The first multi-day event of the PokerStars Canada Cup is coming to a conclusion tonight with Day 3 of Event 1, a $135 + $15 No Limit Hold’em Re-entry tournament that featured 4 Day 1s and attracted 1439 total entries.

There are 13 players left in the action on two tables, and there will be a full seating redraw at 10 players – i.e., when the players move to the event’s final table. The players left in the event all seem to be solid recreational players. Often in small-buy-in, large-field events such as this a few pros will make it to the end, but that is not the case this time around, so it’s really anyone’s tournament to win.

That being said Jessie Wheatley, Patrick Pilotte-Renaud, Marcel Basset, and Andrej Bachynsky do have the advantage of a significant chip lead over the rest of the field – each is over 4M while the next player has just 2.5M and down from there.

    Good luck!
