  • The big-name players continue to fall in the Main Event of the PokerStars Canada Cup as Steven Silverman has been eliminated in 24th place. When we arrived at the table Steven was all in and there had already been a call by François Binette. Action folded around the rest of the table and the players showed down.

Steven: King of Hearts 9 of Hearts
François: 7 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds

The flop was cruel to Steven. King of Diamonds Jack of Clubs 7 of Clubs gave him the pair in the window only to have François hit his set when the door card was unveiled. The board ran out Queen of Spades 5 of Hearts and Steven was off to get his payout coupon.

    24th place: Steven Silverman, $14,740

  • Jonathan Duhamel has been eliminated in 25th place from the feature table. Duhamel started the day relatively short-stacked and had just 143K in his stack to start the hand. When it folded around to him in the small blind, he shoved into Antonio Esfandiari in the big blind. Antonio is playing over 1M in chips and he quickly called.

Jonathan: King of Clubs 9 of Clubs
Antonio: Ace of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds

The flop kept Antonio’s Ace-high in front: 5 of Diamonds 10 of Spades 8 of Hearts. The turn Jack of Diamonds gave Jonathan an open-ended straight draw but gave Antonio the flush draw – but the 6 of Hearts was a blank for both players and Antonio’s Ace held.

    25th place: Jonathan Duhamel, $12,990

  • Johnny Mazzaferro started the day as one of the shorter stacks in this Day 4, and certainly had the plan of trying to get his chips in sooner rather that later to try and climb the leaderboard. He picked up a good spot when he 3bet Francois Binette’s 25K open to 75K, and then called the 4bet shove, holding roughly 260K.

Johnny: Ace of Clubs Queen of Diamonds

Francois: 10 of Spades 10 of Diamonds

Unfortunately for Johnny, he couldn’t pick up a pair on a the 6 of Hearts Jack of Hearts 8 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts 10 of Hearts board, and finished in 26th place for $12,990.

  • Amer Sulaiman has been eliminated in 27th place by Thiago Nishijima.

Amer opened the action with a min-raise from the UTG +1 position. Action folded around to Thiago who 3-bet to 68K. It continued to fold back to Amer who flat called.

The flop was dealt: Jack of Clubs 8 of Hearts 7 of Clubs and Amer instantly open-shoved his last 128K. Thiago wasn’t happy about it, but in just a few seconds he called and flipped over a pocket pair 6 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds, while Amer turned over 8 of Spades 10 of Spades for a pair of eights.

The turn 6 of Hearts was perfect for Thiago who made his set, and Amer got up from his seat and could only watch in futility as the Queen of Hearts couldn’t change his fate.

    27th place: Amer Sulaiman, $12,990
