Photo Update
Top stacks after 4 levels
The players are returning from their second break of the day, and the field is led by the following players:
- Jason Dean Ross – 114K
- Justin Miller – 85K
- Joeygajan Ravinthan – 84K
- Hani Sawaf – 82K
- Amir Babakhani – 81K
- Francois Binette – 80K
- Michael Watson – 78K
Registration is up to 274 for the day, which means we still have over $300K in overlay for the time being! Late registration will remain open for another 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Some notable eliminations leading up to this break include Mike Leah, Carla Sabini and Eric Despres.
Canada Cup & the Champions League
The tournament flight is half-way through level 4 and the players will be taking their second break in about 20 minutes. The eyes that aren’t glued to the poker table are wandering almost exclusively to the Champions League Final that is being played in Lisbon today!
Registration is up to 271 with two more levels (plus the dinner break) left to late register, and the numbers today, while solid, will likely not quite make it up to the level required to hit the guarantee… which means added value for everyone in the field!
A few more join the fun
Registration keeps climbing in Day 1c of the Pokerstars Canada Cup, with the total of the day up to 262 for now. This still falls short of the guarantee, meaning there is still an overlay. Players have over 4 hours to come and register, so be sure not to miss this opportunity!
A few recent Tweets:

Decided to play @PokerStars cup despite having a recent nose surgery. If I'm bleeding during a hand it doesn't mean that I'm strong…

- Jiachen Gong – 61K
Early Day 1c photos
Some of the stars out today
One of the greatest things about this event so far are the sheer number of fantastic poker players who have come out to compete for a share of the prize pool. Earlier we have seen Antonio Esfandiari, Jeff Gross, Marc-André Ladouceur, and Jonathan Duhamel, among others.
Today there are some more top names in poker who have jumped in the event. Victor Ramdin is here, as is November Niner Marc-Etienne McLaughlin and his partner Laurence Grondin, Canadian tournament superstars Mike Watson and Mike Leah, and many more.
Registration today is up to 231 players and late registration is still open for 5.5 hours, so there’s lots of time to come out to Playground and play with your heroes!
First bust of the day
We have had our first elimination of the day and it went down in truly horrific (for the losing player) fashion… Mario Lim, who final tabled the WPT Canadian Spring Championship, was holding pocket 6s, flopped a set and the turn K gave him his boat… only to show down (with all of the chips in the middle) and find out his opponent – Vancouver lawyer Jason Mann – had turned quad Kings.
What’s the word on Twitter?
We’ve seen a few early Tweets so far with regards to the Pokerstars Canada Cup Main Event held at Playground Poker Club:
