Players have taken their seats in the Omaha 8 or Better event and cards are in the air! So far, 62 players have entered the event, with most likely another 40 or more on their way to join in the action.
Tonight’s tournament is officially called “Event 6 – $300 + $30 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better” but wandering around the room chatting with customers they say they’re playing O8, or Hi-Lo, or Split-Pot Omaha, or Omaha 8, or 8 or better… There are a lot of names for this poker variant, but it’s a favourite of its fans who are just now gathering at Playground to jump into this year’s edition of this fun and challenging event.
Although the tournament tonight won’t break attendance records, the players who love Omaha really love it, and the High/Low style is pretty rare in all but the biggest poker festivals – so the excitement is building.
This is the official payout table for Event 5 – $300 + $30 No Limit Hold’em 6 Max, an event in the Playground Poker Fall Classic that started on November 25, 2013. There were 245 players total in the event.

After a long heads-up battle in which only $2,800 – and the bracelet – was at issue, in the end Marko emerged victorious over Troy Hamilton. Troy played an extremely strong tournament and was consistently among the chip leaders since early in Day 2, and his strong play continued to the final table where he quickly amassed a huge stack.
At the same time as he was building up his stack, though, Marko was building an impressive stack of his own. Still, by the time it got two-handed, Troy had a chip advantage and looked to be in control of the affair.
What happened, though, went off-script. Marko played a relentless and extremely patient game and seemed to drive Troy kind of crazy with his patience, until in the end Marko wore him down and took all of the chips.
1st place: Marko, $20,309 and the championship bracelet
2nd place: Troy Hamilton, $17,665
Marko and Troy Hamilton have now been playing heads up for over 90 minutes with no sign of a let up from either player.
The players are taking well-earned 10-minute break. At the break, Marko is working with 11.7M chips while Troy has 5.8M.
The 6-Max Event has reached level 8 and there are 171 players remaining. We learned after the break that there were 245 total players in this event. The prize pool will be available in just a few minutes but the top prize will be around $15K!
